« on: January 15, 2010, 11:51:06 PM »
- MANG TEMI PLEASE REPLY!!!! You gota tell me the breakdown of the drums in "Take Cover". you guys are awesome!!!!

I'm inlove with Mr. Big's music. They are simply awesome.
I specially love the song titled "Take Cover"

I just cant seem to get the drum beat right. It has this poly-rhythmic thing going on.
I would like to ask for your help!!!

Please break down the drum beat. Hand and foot pattern stuff

Thanks fellow drummers!  :mrgreen:

i think its just a paradiddle pattern between the right hand (playing on the floor tom) and the right foot.

Same with Pat went to the ride...from the floor tom..he's doing the same pattern, except this time he's riding the bell. (awesome bell tone - my favorite, whatever Z ride he's using..)

+1 on this video. You can see it clearly in this video. Looks like the floor tom's pattern is swung.

Actually its a good example of linear pattern,yung part ng drums na nasa ride cymbal sya same pattern but may accent sa second note dont know how to explain it mahina kasi ako sa theoretical hehe..mahirap jan yung independence ng hihat(foot) yung straight 4/4 pattern hirap ilagay.. :-)

kami to bro haha  :lol:

Its Linear pattern, ganito ginagawa ko:

K = Kick
R = Floor Tom
L = Snare

KRRK LRKR RKKR LRRK

tama si samscapular, mejo mahirap yung yung 4/4 pattern ng hi-hat eto sya:

Number means play hihat with foot

1   2  3   4  1   2   3  4
KR RK LR KR RK KR LR RK

yung ride pattern pareho lang, pero accent lang sa bell hirap explain haha pero eto, ung "a" means bell hit.

K = Kick
R = Ride
L = Snare
a = Bell

   a    a    a    a    a
KRRK LRKR RKKR LRRK

isa pa pala, yung last pattern ng break after chorus before verse:

KRRK LRKR RKRK then yung huling note sabay yung Snare and Crash

sana nakatulong to haha  :lol:

I was the sound engineer at that show in LA you linked to on youtube. It was for Japanese fans that flew in for a "secret" show at the Roxy Theatre on the Sunset Strip...A great night

Sir, do you have any idea what Mr. Torpey's cymbal setup is? Model, series and sizes from hi-hat, crashes to ride?

To be honest, it's been so long since I have worked with him and the band, I don't remember. All of my tour documentation was deleted from my Hotmail email account accidentally, so I don't even have the band's Rider or Stage Plot anymore. I also worked with Billy Sheehan for the band Niacin, and it was really great watching Dennis Chambers night after night. I did the drum engineering on their CD called "Time Crunch" and engineered "Niacin Live: Blood Sweat and Beers" as well.
