recording software, recording problem
« on: February 04, 2010, 10:30:05 AM »
sir gamit ko cakewalk and acoustica mixcraft, direct in ako sa mic

guitar - boss gt6 (line/phone output) - laptop mic input

illustration:

track 1 -- may naka record na

track 2 -- for blending purposes - na rerecord nya pa din yung track 1, which is nag bo-boost tuloy yung track 2 at nagiging ngo ngo at sabog na,pumapatong pa din yung track 1,

ganun ba talaga? the fact na naka direct input na nga ako

anong OS mo pre?

ive used cakewalk long ago. try mo sa settings nya and see to it na it records straight from the MIC INPUT not from the MONO or STEREO MIX... check mo rin sa recording audio control panel ng laptop mo, see to it na naka check ang MIC INPUT.

may option yung laptops to disable yung built-in mics...
may netbook ako yung asus na EEE, di sya maka record ng sounds for more than 5 seconds without screwing up the quality.

try mo pare right click yung speaker icon sa system tray, open volume control, options, properties, "adjust volume for" -> recording
if you can access that you can see yung recording control panel.

use audacity rin, easier ang audio panel ng audacity.

sir .. your problem is ... your software records what ever your soundcard produces ... so if your playing back a song ... yun ang ma record nya ..... i forgot how to fix it .. got the same prob dati ... but as i could remember yun software mo eh meron source option yan ..... and even your soundcard may recording/playback option yan .... may option ka dun where the laptops gets the signal to record .... but i would suggest you use a usb interface ... mas ok ang naka usb interface rather than direct sa line in/mic in ng laptop mo .. yun latency kasi medyo mag kaka problem ka .. minsan di sabay yun pag record at playback ..

get at least a usb audio interface device... as stated by uglyguy below...

sir .. your problem is ... your software records what ever your soundcard produces ... so if your playing back a song ... yun ang ma record nya ..... i forgot how to fix it .. got the same prob dati ... but as i could remember yun software mo eh meron source option yan ..... and even your soundcard may recording/playback option yan .... may option ka dun where the laptops gets the signal to record .... but i would suggest you use a usb interface ... mas ok ang naka usb interface rather than direct sa line in/mic in ng laptop mo .. yun latency kasi medyo mag kaka problem ka .. minsan di sabay yun pag record at playback ..

you will definitely experience latency issues, tone issues, and recording issues(like noise, etc) when using the mic in/line in of your pc... unless you have a high end sound card... external sound cards can only do so much... it works the same way anyway...

always check the input and output source of your DAW (recording software... e.g. Cakewalk, Sonar, Audacity, etc)... i suggest you continue with Cakewalk... Audacity works well during the recording and is very easy to use... but when you export your track, it usually will make your track either fast or slow (the track as a whole or even some parts of it... )...

that's the prob with Audacity... continue with Cakewalk, get a USB Audio Interface device (Behringer is the cheapest one i know and someone is selling one at the classifieds, MAudio jamlab works well too - these are for the 'tight-budgeted' home recording musician)... and again, check your input and output source...

you can also check the net for temporary and permanent fixes... there are technical forums that have discussed the solution for these kinds of recording issues...

Here is a link to the FAQs for a Cakewalk user - http://soundsgoodpro.com/cakewalktips.htm

i hope that helps... cheers!

P.S.

sorry but this query should've been posted here - http://talk.philmusic.com/board/index.php/board,74.0.html

cheers bro! tuloy na natin ang jamming minsan...

e sir baka naman naka-arm for recording ang track 1? but i'm sure you know that. I used to record with cakewalk too before, i'm using just my laptop to record pero i've never encountered that problem, try setting the mic input as mono like the other guys say maybe that'll work

This is the way to go. Try to find one in ProAudio Classifieds.

which cakewalk production software are you using? theres a bunch(sonar, guitartracks, home studio)?

i've been using their stuff among others since my dad first got a laptop back in 96-98(not sure), what you could do is post screen shots of the audio source you set it up to get the sound from, also always disarm the track when you dont want to record over it and record in mono

on lazy days i record in track 1, then drag the clip to track 2,

learning the short keys help too..like cut, lock/unlock..take your time learning/reading the software manual it helps

consider getting a better audio interface,

if mono ayaw ma record totally..naka stereo mix nga yung setting ng pc volume/reocrding properties.. kaya laging left side lang yung meron..

ARM - yung red one sa baba? oonga sir meron ngang ganun kapag naka select yung record

lol even stating the source..i use the guitar tracks 3

if mono ayaw ma record totally..naka stereo mix nga yung setting ng pc volume/reocrding properties.. kaya laging left side lang yung meron..

ARM - yung red one sa baba? oonga sir meron ngang ganun kapag naka select yung record

choose the left side as the input..above the track change the input source grab from the left..
