like who? It IS a starter guitar, regardless of who uses it. You obviously haven't outgrown it and it depends entirely on you if you will ever.

They are called starter guitars because the manufacturers made them to cater specifically to beginners and to those who are only willing/able to spend so much. They may still be expensive for some, but truth is the ones you mentioned are relatively cheap because they are in the lower bracket of the price range. As long as there are mass produced guitars that go as high as $5000, this will always be the case.

In analogy, not everyone can buy a Chery in a snap but there is no denying that it is in the lower end of the spectrum as far as cars go. Naturally, people will refer to it accordingly and if you think that's being mean then that's being painfully insecure.

Hope this helps.
+1 a good analogy

there will be always first time in our lives , so being at first time its the start of a new beginning , buying this starter kit will make you a starter or a first timer ( if you have no experience at all) . so it is a given name for those who about to rock and roll-out if you failed...lol

i started with an electric guitar starter kit and tone wise it really sucks.. that is why you need to burn.. burn.. it is process or evolution of gusto...

peace.
