16" A custom crash (regular only)

ayos din yung 16" A brilliant thin crash, i like it more than the 16" A custom.

New Beats are like industry standard, but I'd say go for 13", those with rippled bottoms (like Paiste Sound Edges), or vented bottoms (like Ziljdian Quick Beats)... these project the "hiss" better than 14" regular hi-hats.

Sa crash naman... 16 is a good size.  Cymbals that have short decay are supposed to be thin ones, so I'd sa go for a thin or medium-thin crash (plus, they respond easily).  A Custom is good if you really want it to project ("bright", like you said), but go for A's if you want it a bit warmer.

pre lagay muna natin sa 13" hats yung usapan hehehe related naman din sa recording to :D

what's your personal preference for hats?

i find 13" hats to be "mabakal". parang masyadong thick yung chick sound nya as compared to 14". for the longest time, i used 13" sabian aax fusion hats (vented to) and then tried 13" A custom hats. now im using 13" saluda hats and i find they all have that chunky chick sound. nagkakatalo na lang sila dun sa sounds in between at open.

lower pitched yata talaga ang 13" kesa 14"

i've never owned a 14" pero kung closed chick sound yung main criteria, id go pick a 14" new beat, 14" K custom dark hats or 12" remix hats (yes they really do sound nice)

for rocking half open wash im happy with my 13" saluda

Para sakin, ok for pop/rock ang A at K Zildjian crashes, Thin and Medium-Thin models, 16-18" range. Napaka-versatile kasi e.

Gerry, i have tried the Paiste Alpha hats on recording, the ones with a rippled bottom as mentioned by inigo.  it was neither bright nor dark.  it was JUST RIGHT. very mellow unlike the Sabian B8 Pros which tend to really cut thru a mix.

Binuhay ang patay!

I recently recorded with a Meinl Byzance Brilliant setup - 14" Fast Hats, 17" Medium Thin Crash, 20" Medium Ride.

Upload ko sample kapag tapos na tracks ng bandmates ko.  :-)

For hihats ive always used pre-serial 14" New Beats.

For crashes Avedis Medium Thin crashes and A Custom Crashes...

try mixing different crashes for different cymbal sounds and accents. they should blend well together..

happy recording.. 8-)

13" mas prefer ko sa hats for recording.
mas controllable lang and mas projected yung highs.
