fender strat what model?

epiphone amp, what model?

take your guitar to a guitar store, try out some other amps..pickups alone wont solve tone quest alone..

it depends on your taste and style of playing..
malaking impact yun! pwedeng negative or positive impact..

i recommend dimarzio true velvet para sa strat mo. (ewan ko lang kung meron dito nun)

in my opinion.. para sa stock pickups mo before you change it..

things to consider:
1) genre
2) style of playing
3) guitar you're using
4) amp you're using
5) effects you're using

hope i helped, somehow.. :-)

+1

Some would neglect to buy a decent amp they put their money in souping up their guitar
over a decent sounding amp

Take this piece of advice seriously... I've been on the pickup changing route, and I feel that there is a change in tone, usually on the clarity. But it's not a huge difference. Buying a better amp would be a better option, if not the best, instead of changing pickups.

mga bro, maraming salamat sa mga inputs, i already considered getting a decent amp, and i think then i will replace my pickups......

my style of playing goes from classic rock, blues, country and sometimes metal.... if i would consider changing my pickups, i have an HSS, what humbuckers and single coils could you recommend that would be suitable for the genres i chose????? thanks again mga bro.... your advices really helped a lot...

also what are the pros and cons of active and passive pcikups??? please enlighten me... i really am puzzled with their differences...

thanks phimusic :-D

more output on active pickups, no hum (specially the single coils).. but there are passive high output single coils with no hum too..
for your playing i suggest just stay passive, no battery change needed.. 2 single coil duncans and a JB humbucker on the bridge should cover up what you play.. cheers

i use a seymour duncan distortion on an SG....and i have an emg81 that im saving for a custom guitar in the future
the pickup sounds really fat! maybe because of my guitar too....i play the rhythm position i want my riffs to be nice and crunchy...it can also be calm when i want to use it for chorus or delays..

changing pickups will of course change your guitar's tone. but think of this, what if, with just minor tweaking on your amp's EQ or your pedal's controls, you can make your stock pickups sound like those pickups you're aiming to upgrade to?

I suggest you try to maximize your gear's capabilities first before opting to shell out money for modifications or upgrades... :kung sa pandinig mo eh hindi ka pa rin masaya, dun ka mag-palit  :-)

ako, dun sa Aria strat ko (a cheap but really good axe), I just had it shielded, installed treble bleed, adjusted the poles' distance from the strings, and I'm happy with it.. though I know it can sound better with some good Alnico magnet pickups, eh nakaka-tugtog naman ako nang maayos eh.. so what kung stock ceramic pickups lang yung gamit ko?  :-)

I think that at least, you should know why you don't like the PUs you're using now.

bro kung practice amp, basically 20 watts or below yung normal mong ginagamit, the only noticable difference will be
output level or brightness. the minor pleasures of changing pickups comes out when you play on bigger amps or when you play clean on those smaller amps. so remember, wag mo muna idefine yung "gusto mong tone" based on your practice equipment. kasi magugulat ka nalang iiba sobra yung tunog when you play on different kinds of amps. suggestion ko sayo bro is really to find mga kaibigan or pag makapunta ka sa music store, to try mga guitars na naka iba't ibang pickups na, you try them yourself. but remember, a lot of your "tone" comes from the way you press on the notes and the way you pick them. your pickups only act as another "effects/eq" to the true tone of your fretting and picking.

another piece of advice would be ano ba gusto mo sa pickups mo, kasi some pickups sound great when played note per note but are muddier when you play chords (notes end up "blending").

ako duncan user ako,
JB - very balanced and bright (extremely versatile and one of my favorites)
59 neck - vintage style sound just hot rodded (di ko mashado nagagamit)
TB-5 bridge - higher treble and mids, more "metally" than the JB
Jazz neck - incredible clarity (highly recommended for playing fast runs with mild distortion and when your notes are fat para hindi muddy).
dimarzio tone zone - very fat, pretty nice too

go out and try any pickup you see on any guitar! try try try!

Bill Lawrence L90 (bridge and neck humbuckers)

so far, it's usable for any genre (just my two cents)... it's very transparent and responsive...  :-D
