top of mind:

Silversun Pickups - Carnavas
The White Stripes - Elephant
Matthew Sweet - Girlfriend

don't think there was fuzz in Matthew Sweet's album.

other artists with great fuzz tones

Led Zeppelin -- tonebender
Blur -- DOD Punkifier
Jayhawks -fuzz face
Wilco -- Lovetone Big Cheese, Fulltone 69 (Fuzz Face variant), Fuzz Factory
Jesus and Mary Chain -- Shin-ei Fuzz
ZZ Top - Bixonic Expandora
The Who - Univox Superfuzz
Iggy and the Stooges -- forgot which fuzz
Black Keys -- Maestro Fuzztone and Green Russian Muff
Spacemen 3 -- superfuzz i think

too many good fuzz tones out there! There is something exciting about having a fuzz pedal, coz you never know what you will get.

ah, the punkifier. is it a digital fuzz? is it like the fz-2 or 5? those fuzzies aren't bad either.

think it is analog. sounds pretty nasty. it was used in the song bugman and the solo on coffee and tv

i love the sound of my nyc big muff, but apparently the vintage fame of this pedal sounds different.

ever since i got the muff and read some stuff about it, i keep coming across the famous david gilmour sound.

so what is a good pink floyd album that epitomizes the gilmour fuzz tone?  :?

i've only listened to dark side of the moon.

oo nga man, e. i knew nga that he uses a ds-1 lang and a polychorus pedal. minsan nga ds-1 lang on stage.

i read that he used a green sovtek muff briefly, on one of the threads sa ilovefuzz.com yata yun. so i gave bleach a listen again, and i have to say the song "school" sounded like a muff nga. specially the swell in the beginning.

one of the sites i've read. dunno of its cred as it seems like fan site.

http://www.burntout.com/kurt/misc/equip.html

some say he used it sa nevermind, some say sa in utero.

i dunno.

Billy F. Gibbons in Rhythmeen had a great fuzz tone - but a lot of people are saying that he lied when he said he used a Bixonic Expandora in that album :-D

btw, +1 on Loveless, amazing album.  But no love for Sonic Youth?  Dirty had the filthiest fuzz tones, PLUS they used weird tunings, which added to the chaos.

being a fuzz face kinda guy, i'm gonna go with any of the following:
jimi hendrix - his 1st 3 studio albums; live would be "band o gypsies" and "live at winterland"
doyle bramhall II - his 3 studio cd's, "doyle bramhall II", "jellycream", and "welcome"
eric johnson - "venus isle"

i will add that i like j mascis' use of the fuzz on dinosaur jr.'s "where you been" even if i'm not much of a big muff pi guy.
