copyright questions

hi guys, question.

i had a band (let's say BAND XYZ) and made a song with me as the song writer (melody, lyrics and drumbeats since i was also the drummer), then we had it copyrighted at national library. then after it was copyrighted, couple of months later i quit the band and formed a new band (let's say BAND ABC) now we at BAND ABC wants to use the songs i wrote on BAND XYZ.. with different guitars and bass but same lyrics and melody.

are we going to have legal issues if ever we push this plan?

it depends. if the song (let's say song ABC) is copyrighted under your name as creator/author, then there will be no problem. but if for example the song was copyrighted under the name of your band mate (let's say band mate BCD ), then he might run after you when the song (let's say song ABC) becomes famous.
