Do you start disliking artists when they earn fans that you hate?

Ya know, it's like when people started listening to Incubus during the "Drive" days when I was into S.C.I.E.N.C.E.  It seemed like I was being selfish not liking some chicks in Skechers shoes and Dickies shirts to become Incubus fans...

I dunno, but does a core audience really start to hate the artist they worship once the posers and the pa-sosy people start becoming fans?

As long as the artists in question still play good music then I don't care if they have retarded fans. I'll just continue supporting them by buying their original CDs but I'll stop going to their shows, haha.

Depende pa rin talaga sa mga ginagawang kanta nung banda/artist. Mas astig nga kung hindi naging sell out pero lumaki ang fan base.

i like bands as long as they dont get overplayed and become a trend.

why?

well, you get sick and tired of their style when you see it everywhere... if i hang out with a group of 5 guitar players and all they talk about is yngie malmsteem, i will get bored to death with yngie, and i will do everything to not sound like yngie, eventhough di talaga sya uso and di sikat. i love variety.

as for the fans ... even great bands like NiN, Tool, Monstrosity, etc. have retarded fans. hell, even john coltrane and miles davis get those retarded "virtuoso" disciples that are not different from majority of the "kupaw, now emo" fans.

Sa music ang focus ko, hindi sa fans.

Ang music (at marketing/packaging) ang dahilan kung bakit nag-iiba ang fanbase ng mga banda.

Nang nagkaroon ng transition ang Incubus sa Morning View phase nila, nasentro ang music nila sa radio-friendly, formulaic songs.

Siguro nagkasabay lang ang dislike mo sa music nila at ang liking ng mga radio-friendly, mainstream fans.

sabi ko nga sa thread na sinara ng MOD, it's the fans i tend to hate not the artists. so what kung maging uso yung mga kanta nila kahit sa jologs. it's a sign na your music IS GETTING THROUGH PEOPLE. hindi lang mga select few. ang plastic naman ng taong magsasabi na tumutugtog sya para sa sarili nya. besides from being selfish, that's too weird. kasi ang pagkakaalam ko, tumutugtog ka to be heard by other people, kahit sino man yan. kung may nakaka-appreciate sa yo, effective ang message mo na ipinaparating mo sa mga tao. kahit na isang tao lang yan. basta may nagkagusto sa kanta mo. going back, tungkol sa fans at sa artists. hindi natin maiwasan na magustuhan ng mga ayaw nating tao ang music natin. kasi they too have their own mind. yun nga lang nae-exaggerate nila masyado and feel nila sila lang ang nakaka-appreciate sa music na yun. and meron rin yung mga taong nakiki-uso lang at hindi alam ang pinakikinggan nila. yun ang dapat kamuhian kasi ang ibang tao, pag pumatok na sa jologs ang isang artist ayaw na nila kasi feeling nila jologs na rin sila.

Nope...yung music naman ang gusto ko sa artist.. di yung fans rin nila that i hate or i do not want to get along with... pero pag may nakita akong fan na i hate... for example sa isang gig, sa bar,.. dinadaan ko na lang sa slamman, dun ko na nilalabas ang hate ko sa kanila wahahahaha!!!  \m/

Sa akin lang naman, since I'm not paying for anything here on Philmusic - hence, for me this is a free service - I don't complain about the moderation style of any of the moderators or admins. If i really dislike a certain moderator's style, then i just go to another part of the forum, or not interact within that forum altogether.

Now, I don't know if the moderators are being paid, but my guess is, they're not - and if that's true, then they're doing this as an act of volunteerism.

So, call it power-tripping, call it whatever, the thing is...this place is not a democracy, but the whole internet being what it is...if you don't like it here, you can always set a new forum up somewhere.

I've experienced this situation from two sides: in one of my hobbies, a whole group of pinoys, me included, were told firmly and politely that we should set up our own mailing list (because we were in an international list, and we started conversing in pinoy - yeah, I know, bad manners). We did, and we made it grow. We slowly evolved into a forum, and at the beginning, we promised not to be "power-trippers". but as more and more people started abusing the forum by not reading our rules or following the culture we had created in the forums, we had to get tighter and tighter. So, some people started complaining. I told them politely to create a new forum for themselves, and encouraged them by supporting their efforts and being a member in the new forum. So now, that other forum is a brother forum to ours.

well...as moderator, yun ang interpretation niya eh. that's why I pointed out...free service.
