router and internet problem
« on: August 20, 2010, 06:58:46 PM »
hi guys, I've been having some problems with my router and internet access lately (for about a month or so). Okay, this is what usually happens. Im using a tp-link and it is not connected to any computer. Right now, i am using a cd r king wireless lan pci card.

The problem is whenever I turn on my router and internet provider (smart bro), my pc could only access or connect to the router but not the net. What I do to have it fixed is, I remove smartbro from the router and plug it directly into a laptop. What happens (i think) is, the laptop defaults the settings or something like that which makes me have access to internet using my laptop. Then I'll wait for at least 5 mins before I unplug smartbro from the laptop and plug it to the router again (then turn on the router). After at least 1 or 2 minutes, my computer can now detect the router and is now able to connect to the net.

I can deal with this. Although I always waste at least 20mins for setting everything up (because the laptop's too slow). What I want to know is, what I can do to have this one fixed?

Thanks!

Minsan nakakapagnet. minsan hindi. kapag hindi, that's the time where I have to manually set it up using my sis' laptop. Badtrip talaga pag kulang sa kaalaman. hehe

sa aming pamilya :D. yes wireless. I am using this one: http://www.tp-link.com/products/productDetails.asp?class=&pmodel=TL-MR3420.

I think it's 192.168.0.1 tapos yung iba default username and password (admin, admin) tapos konting kalikot lang dun sir. mababasa mo ung (preferred DNS server and alternate DNS server) kopyahin mo lang yun sa settings mo sir. sa control panel> connections> Local Area Network>Properties. (Use the following IP address tska yung user the following DNS Server addresses) tapos aun. hehe.

try lang sir. hope it will helps. ehehe

goodluck.

it wouldn't hurt kung di mo na lang papatayin ang router at smart bro mo. as for the router, kung may issue sa intermittent connection, reset mo router o kaya update mo yung firmware if available.

supposedly ang mga SOHO router talaga plug and play lang. unless there are issues like special config, issues talaga ng router settings or even firmware. so try those things i've mentioned.  :-)

umm.. di ko alam yung port number ng torrent.. pero ang ginawa ko kasi sa router namin, i only allow port 80 which is the HTTP port.. block mo na lang ang ports 1-79 and ports 81-65535..
