Hey guys, so I've finally decided to try out the world of analogue pedals (not that I'd totally abandon my RP500, it's got far too much sentimental value for me to ditch it completely
) with a specific focus on distortion. So far I have an MT-2 Bogner Mod courtesy of MarkV (thanks man!) and a custom 5-band EQ based on the Mesa Boogie Mark/Dual Caliber series designs by independent pedal maker company ADEV. By now this may already be obvious to you that I'm trying to find a way to emulate Mesa-type sounds without actually having to buy the actual amps.
Right now the only missing ingredient is a nice overdrive pedal which will handle solo and dirt boost duties. Of course the traditional choice would be the Ibanez TS overdrive pedals, but I'm very much interested in the Bad Monkey mainly for its separate bass and treble EQ controls as well as its TS-like pedigree without being an outright clone. In fact I'm pretty much sold on it already seeing a lot of excellent demos by users.
I plan to use it this way:
Guitar->modified MT-2->Bad Monkey->5 band EQ->amp
Now my question is how much volume boost can be afforded with the Bad Monkey. Has anyone had any direct experience with it so far? Is anyone selling theirs?
