Changing Hard Drive without Reinstalling OS
« on: April 16, 2011, 12:39:29 AM »

Possible ba ito?

I currently have a 40gig planning to upgrade it to 500gig.

Is there a way to Transfer Everything Excactly to the new HD? All the Files and Settings should be the same.

Paano to gawin? :|

You can plug the two HDs simultaneously on one PC, if your hardware supports it. Just check if your motherboard has a spare SATA/IDE slot. This would depend on your current HD/Mobo setup, but I think it won't matter kung SATA yung bagong drive or IDE yung lumang drive, so long as your motherboard supports both interfaces. ;D

That's all the info I'm sure of. Hindi ako gaanong kasure about sa pagcopy, but if you're willing to give a shot just copy/paste the entire contents of your old drive to the new one when you boot. Anyways, don't take my word for it (too much) and check for other people's replies. :D

Hope this helps!

i was thinking about this problem too. im planning to upgrade my 500 gb hd into a 1 terabyte hd. im considering several options:
1. instead of an internal HD, get an external HD instead... putting all my data there as backup.
2. get another 500 gb hd and make it my slave drive

If you just want to create a backup for your personal files., pude naman external HDD. But if you are planning to upgrade, puede mo try Ghost para transfered lahat pati settings, etc.

Eto kasi ginagawa ko dati sa computer shop na pinasukan ko as part time technician. Mas madali pag maraming PC compared sa manual installation mo lahat  :-D

Yes my MOBO can support 2 hard drives.

Mas maganda kung di na tanggalin yung old drive... try the RAID settings... if something bad happens to your old drive... your new drive w/ your copied System from your old drive will back it up... Acronis is a great software for this.. but there are other best alternative if you will search the vast web...
GOOGLE is your best friend bro...goodluck!

hmm.. kung ako kasi nasa ganyang sitwasyon, lalagyan ko na lang ng bagong OS yung 500gb then copy ko na lang mga important files ko from the 40gb hdd.. fresh pa yung OS..  :-D

This is a viable solution.

Idagdag mo nalang yun 500GB.

bro install mo ACRONIS TRUE IMAGE

http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/products/trueimage/index.v1.html

tapos lagay mo yung 500GB mo

i-clone nyan mismo yung 40GB mo, pati virus kopya

yan gamit ko kapag nagseset-up sa SHOP :))
