Back in the 90's I had a cheap nylon acoustic guitar that was bought from raon
. Its a little bit smaller than a Baby Taylor. Its loud enough for jams. I never had worries on it getting wet or banged up. Its perfect for travelling and the outdoor environment.
At one time I strung it up with steel strings when I had no budget for nylons. The neck held up alright even though there was no truss rod. The steel strings made it louder but were prone to rusting when played outdoor especially at the beach.
I'm sure the music stores today offers better quality guitars. Just remember the first things you should look for when choosing a travel guitar are (IMO):
1. Small
2. Loud
3. Cheap
(I WOULD NEVER DARE USE MY EXPENSIVE GUITARS ON HARSH OUTDOOR ENVIRONMENTS!!!)
