Looking at being a drummer from a physical perspective.
« on: April 30, 2012, 03:13:58 PM »
Good day fellow drummers!
I hope you can help me out. To the mods, if medyo mali yung forum na pinaglagyan ko.

My girlfriend's taking her masters at UP (Human Movement Science) and she has a "Research Method" subject.

As for her topic, sinuggest ko sa kanya to try and dissect how it is to be an actively gigging drummer and try to look at everything related to drumming from a PHYSICAL perspective.

We've watched and re-watched some drum dvd's and still kulang pa rin yung report niya.

So I turn to my fellow pinoydrummers for some advice/suggestions.
What do you guys and gals think would be a great topic to include in her research?
Some can be a whole chapter, pwede rin isang specific topic lang.

Anything would be helpful.
Approaching drumming from a physical perspective.

Thanks in advance PDpeeps!
 :)

Not sure kung relevant pero baka good resource yung dvd ni jojo mayer...secret weapons for the modern drummer. In depth yung explanation nya about the moeller technique. Related to this, puede isama yung negative effects ng maling technique like carpal tunnel syndrome. I'm sure madaming info about this on the web, kahit sa drumming context (i remember watching a TV show that featured Max Weinberg. He discussed how he got carpal tunnel and its effects).

Um, siguro yung proper posture and technique ng drummer, madami kasing drummer ang nag s-suffer dahil sa bad sitting posture katulad ni Buddy Rich at Vinnie Colaiuta.

Di ko alam kung relevant to pero, siguro yung kung pano gawing mas "ergonomic" ung drumkit mo, kasi mas makakaiwas ka sa injuries and problems dahil dito in the long run.

I hope natulungan kita. :)

Salamat sa mga suggestions mga kapatid.

Yung ergonomics, that's one of the weak points of her research, kaya malamang marami-rami pa dapat mabasa para sa chapter na yun. Thanks bro!

And nakakatuwa rin kasi naisip ko rin agad yung DVD ni Jojo Mayer last night when i posted this. Thanks!

Gep! hehehe salamat sa link!

And i think kalyo part na ng buhay ng drummer. it's makes us stronger. hehehe.
