compatibility issues
« on: April 11, 2013, 09:37:20 PM »
hello mga sir! is there such a thing as compatibility between effects & amps? i'm using a boss me-50 multi thru a blackstar ht50 head with 212 cab. problem is, pag naka set sa DS 1 ang effects, bridge position, mejo harsh ang tunog... parang ang talas na garbled. this happens when i use that particular effect lang naman. pag sa ibang amp, i also use a solid state peavey studio pro 112, okay naman. salamat po sa mga sasagot. :)

compatibility issues?

you've experienced it yourself by using the same effect settings on two different amps.
so,
YES!

Yes.

well, ang DS-1 naman talaga, kahit yung stompbox itself eh medyo harsh, hehe. baka bright yung blackstar na amp. ang alam ko eh class A british amp yan, so medyo ganon talaga ang character ng mga class A amps. kaya anjan yung mga tone controls ng pedals natin, para ma-adjust depende sa amp na gamit. natural lang yun na may variation sa tunog kasi iba-iba naman ang character ng amps eh. kaya yung mga artists, they bring their own setup, from guitars > effects > amp para consistent yung tunog nila. konting tweak lang sa settings ang katapat nyan bro, hehe.

Yes, there is such as thing as compatability issues. Not just between amps and pedals, but sometimes between guitars as well.

Just curious. I played through a couple of Blackstar HT amps (5, 40 and 60) before, and the dirt channel on those amps are pretty sweet and better than most dirt pedals. Why not use your amp's dirt channel instead of your Boss ME-50? You'll get better tone, better dynamics, and better headroom. Just my two cents.

apart from the fact that the boss ds1 sucks, i guess you can always say that about everything

"you sound bad today bro, whats up?" - "compatibility issue"

"that expensive boutique pedals sucks bro! my joyo OD is better, why's that?!" - "compatibility issue"

salamat po sir sa pag sagot. yup, enjoy and very contented naman ako sa dirt ng ht50 pero once in a while ginagamit ko rin yung me-50 to get different tones, effects, etc.

aw ok. salamat sa pag explain. first time ko lang kasi mag up grade sa tube amp and ang akala ko what sounds good thru amp A will also sound good sa amp B. nakakainis din naman isipin na sira ang effects kahit maayos mo namn syang ginagamit. hehehe... ty talaga.:)

Alam ko class a/b ang ht series. Yung artisan series yung class a.

BTT: baka nasa dirt channel ka. Kung tintry mo icascade ang dirt channel ng blackstar at yung ds1 mukhang ganun ata yung result. Gainy talaga ang blackstar. Imho, it's dirt channel can stand on its own. No need for other dirt pedals.

i think it's basically choosing one source of dirt. Either your amp's overdrive channel or your overdrive/distortion. I bought a fender hod rod deluxe III kasi dati nagigig pa ko and i use my effects as dirt. pero pwede din pang enhance yung od. i use my bb preamp with my amps od channel ok naman for classic rock.

pero ayoko talaga ng ds-1 matalas talaga.
