Shipping guitars from US
« on: April 26, 2016, 01:40:50 PM »
Hey.

This might have been asked here a couple of times already but anywho,

You guys know the best service/forwarder if I want to buy a guitar in let's say MF or GC and then have it shipped here?

As much as possible, I'd like to do it my self to save some money so Pedallion and other services are not an option right now.

Thanks!

EMS is the cheapest, hassle lang kasi checheck ng customs officer sa harap mo.
Fedex/UPS/DHL, mas mahal and you have to pay taxes on top.
Johnny air cargo, pinakamahal, but you dont have to pay taxes.
Starkargo... used to be the cheapest, hindi ko lang ma track and not sure if they are still in business
 :)

Magkano usually sa PO box?

Also, familiar ba kayo sa Manila Forwarders? May naka-experience na ba sa inyo sa kanila?

Sila kasi yung pinaka-mura kong nakita so far pero parang ang labo kasing kausap nung sa email nila so feeling ko hindi kami nagka-intindihan ng ayos.

Thanks!

Last quote on mine around 3,400 PHP. It consists of two guitar necks, one guitar body, a bunch of pedals, pair of shoes and some small guitar parts. 6 weeks arrival prior to departure from their warehouse in Cali.

Haven't tried MF. Always had a good response from POBox.

IIRC, a couple of years ago it cost US$65 to ship a Tele in a hardcase via ForexWorld.
2-3 months, depending on how long the container at Long Beach took, to fill up with other parcels.

A hardcase falls outside the standard-size boxes normally quoted by ForexWorld.

Have you tried shipping electric guitar and amplifier with POBOX?  Is there add'l tax based on the value of the items or do they just charge you an all-in fee based on the dimensions of the box (no additional taxes based on value)?

I've used MF more than 20 times since 2007.  100% success rate so far.

Electric guitar yes, disassembled. No additional tax based on value. Charge only based on the dimensions of the box. If in doubt, better ask the courier itself... I tried asking for a quote on shipping a whole bike before and it was near to gold.
