Hindi po kaya ng VHT Special 6 mag metal (on it's own or pushed) kahit pa magpalit sila ng tubes at speaker.

a distortion pedal for metal is your best bet

There no way the vht special 6 can produce the metal tones by itself. Dont waste your money on tube for this. Plugging in a metal type pedal will do the trick.

Im running it with a distortion pedal. I just didnt like the nasally sound. I dont intend to  produce metal on this amp alone lol.

Nasally sya because of two things.

1. The stock 10" speaker
2. Low wattage amp

Pagdating sa metal at high gain, mas ok talaga with a bigger speaker (12") and kung high headroom yung amp (higher wattage).

Pero since you already have your Special 6, tingin ko try an EQ pedal after your main dist pedal na lang. Scoop out that nasally character and push the bass.

I own one and my son who's a metal head can produce high gain sounds from it using a cascaded overdrive/distortion pedals.  I find the amp is a very good pedal platform. It gives the pedal tone a sort of a tube vibe :)

Best tube mod for it is replacing the stock chinese tubes with a tungsol 12ax7. From my experience this will give you more volume and clarity. Got mine from spanky rigor here at philmusic. The amp will also sound better thru a 12 inch speaker.

Hope this helps.

Sell the amp and get an amp like the Goldeas out there.

I'd rather be sharp than flat.
