« on: July 25, 2007, 08:07:21 PM »
Probably been done before already but... what the hey.

You Really Got Me - Van Halen
Cum On Feel The Noize - Quiet Riot

I thought were better than the original. Any other songs you think were better than the original?

O Rose, Thou art sick! The invisible worm that flies in the night, In the howling storm, Has found out thy bed of crimson joy: and his dark secret love, Does thy life destroy.

Gary Hoey's cover of popular surf tunes, like Wipeout. Also his Christmas songs. Also, John 5's rendition of GnR's Welcome to the Jungle. That song without Axl Rose's enema-induced vocals is such a breath of fresh air.

Jimi Hendrix's version of All Along the Watchtower by Bob Dylan.

How do I know?  Cuz Bob Dylan says so.  :-D

total eclipse of the heart by the dan band - must-hear ito!

greatest love of all by sexual chocolate - there are few things in this world better than eddie murphy bastardizing a song!

bold as love by the pretenders - they executed it so well, it feels like hendrix wrote the song for them.

all along the watchtower  by hendrix - one of the best guitar solos of all time! I feel like I'm in a vietnam war movie everytime i listen to this song.

like a rolling stone by hendrix - well, what can I say? everything jimi touches turns to gold!

boys of summer by the ataris - ok yung orig, but the ataris version gave it a rockier feel, which i really like.

nothing compares 2 u by sinead o'connor - prince's reaction to this version is similar to bob's dylan's reaction to jimi's watchtower

you really got me by van halen - this is a no brainer. ang kokontra, unggoy! hehe :-P

crossroads by cream - prerequisite ito for anyone who wants to play electric blues guitar

talk to your daughter by robben ford - a hot-rodded version of a willie dixon classic. very tasty guitar solo.

gusto ko lang idagdag, although hindi pa rin siya better than the original, pero ito, imho, ang best remake of this song...
red house by indigenous - ang daming licks saka ang init ng solo.

how about artists who remake their own songs?
whitesnake did this to at least 2 of their own songs. ganda ng remake nila sa fool for your loving saka here i go again!

one rainy wish by brian may - ok rin orig version ni hendrix, pero mas gusto ko areglo nung kay brian may

while my guitar gently weeps by jeff healey - sorry sa mga beatles fans, but i simply cannot stand them.
