Problem with my Korean Jem 555
« on: March 31, 2007, 08:35:33 AM »
sirs, help naman bout my guitar,

ok pow ba si sir Arie Hipolito? di ko lam number and address nya. cavite area pa me eh. meju malayo.

Dude, first of all, comparing a basswood JEM with a Mahogany LP is something you dont do.

The LP with a stoptail bridge and a mahogany body will have more than double the sustain of a low profile floyd rose tremolo guitar, basswood pa at that.

For the tremolo, check the number of springs. If there are 5, reduce to three and adjust the claw until the trem lies flat.

Adjust the neight of the pickups closer to the strings, but not too close.
Get Wylde.

I agree with gjuanengo. Light wood + floating bridge = less sustain. As he points out, your problem is also most likely aggravated by an improperly setup Floyd bridge. You should just bite the bullet and take it to the nearest guitar hospital for adjustment.

Try mo ang suggestion ng mga nag post, set up the tremolo first. ngayon kapag ganun pa rin, I would suggest na wag mo muna dalhin sa pagawaan, instead consult a tech you can ask naman through phone, tingnan mo kung ano sasabihin nila. Ang alam ko jan kapag ganyan after na set up mo na yung trem at ganyan pa rin, walang sustain. The problem is with the wood na.
