Question lang to the thread-starter: ano basis ng thread na to?  Vocal ability? Songwriting?  Guitar work (para bagay sa forum na to).  

Well d ko alam, kasi parehas kasi ng level as an artist, kaya I'm just asking kung who's better for you guys? In the votes' result halos pantay lang eh.

Well I'm afraid this renders this thread hazy.  Dapat mag-set ka ng parameters para mas matino ang diskusyon.  Para may malinaw na basehan.

pero aminin natin na tumugtog din tayo ng mga kanta ni ely di ba..lalo na nung eheads pa siya...hehe..
kay rico din...dami din natin tinugtog na mga gawa nya..

Di Talaga ako naging fan ng eheads and rico or kahit nung nagrivermaya sya.

IMO di ako nadala kahit sa pagguiguitara nila. Rico for me sobrang feeling and eli no idea

Here's the thing: Ely never showed off his guitar chops, ever.  But he's an efficient guitar player when it comes to soloing (a good number of the nice-sounding Eheads solos? Ely's.).  Search for the live Fruitcake performance at the NU Rock Awards.

RB, in the meantime isn't as good a guitar soloist as Ely Buendia, but he knows how to use his effects pedals.  He also knows when to go wild, or cut back on the sound and scale down.  You can argue that he's more creative with his textures.  And it's hard not to admit that does write good riffs, too (it's so easy to make riffs, but it takes a certain skill to make them memorable).

i admire both artists for what they have contributed to pinoy music!

i'm not really a musician so i don't have the perfect ear or eye for technicalities pero i can tell which has better influence in music...so here's what i can say:

di naman nagkakalayo ang genre ng dalawa...alternative to rock, can be in between like "imo(?)", pop rock, etc..it's all the same in the ears of the crowd actually...although i can see rico is a better performer. Ely on the other hand...he doesn't need to make an extra effort to get a crowd, he has the charisma in him, inborn i guess.

i vote for both. hindi madali maging musician and they made a name in the industry...so kudos to both!

pero kung papipiliin ako kung rico or ely, i'd go for ely no doubt, kung titignan nyo lang yung paraan nila ng pagcompose ng lyrics or melodies lamang na lamang si ely. dont get me wrong, di ako bias ahh. ely talaga, hes like the billy corgan ng pinas. peace sa mga rico lovers. but then again, im not much of a fan nilang dalawa xD

I think RB gives a conscious effort to write songs that people will like. EB used to do this, pero try listening to some really unknown eheads/mongols songs then you'll really see his talent (kahit hindi sila pangmasa lol).

are you sure? maya songs are better than pupil's?  no offense pero i disagree. and di ako masyadong fan ng dalawang bands na yun so expect mo na di biased ang pag judge ko, peace bro
