1.) Shredding = very fast guitar work that more often than not, involves the combination of tremolo picking and hammer on and pull-offs.

2.) chromatic scale = scale that contains all the notes (including sharps and/or flats)

3.) thrashing = errr... there's thrash metal, its a blend of british metal and punk. i dont think "thrashing" is a guitar term... "phrasing" though, means, timing and spacing of the notes.

Licks
These are short melodic fragments or motifs.
Rock solos are typically constructed with combinations of licks and may be connected by runs up and down scales or arpggios. Phrasing lplays an important part in the effectivness of a solo.
