nice clean tones.  i used to own one and the good thing about this amp is it doesnt get  overdriven as my deville or other tube amps when the player's dynamics changes a bit, unless you crank it up in which case it breaks up in a solid-statey way ... haha sorry dont know how else to call it.  it sounded almost like a tbe amp when paired with a tube efect box such as the one BAMF built.  this is a real winner when it comes to clean tones :)

i dont like the distortion.   that's just me though as im not so much a fan of solid state distortion.

:)

note though that i am not a guitar player.  any review i post here i post from an audio recordist's point of view.  it would be nice to know how the amp responds to one's playing. i don't know, but as far as the sound goes, A1 for the price! clean tone lang ha ;)

i will look for the mp3 clip i posted once when i was trying to sell my R15 (with BAMF on guitars).

I handed down my Pathfinder (without reverb) to my son a few years ago. Since then I have tried to interest him in letting it go and upgrading to other bigger solidstate amps I had at one time or another - various mij Fender, Peavey Studio Pro 112, Yamaha JX, Roland Cube 20, even an all-tube Peavey Classic 20, and the tube-hybrid Fender Champ 25SE ... but he always steadfastly refused. That speaks volumes.

The Pathfinder has a lot of mids; vastly different from a V-eq'd Fender. kanya-kanyang taste na lang iyan. The boost button doesn't sound too good; but by using od and gain pedals I've heard the amp shake some walls and glass panes at home. Satch, Vai and Yngwie sounds are all in there, as I've heard from my son's playing. So is texas blues...

I even offered to replace his Pathfinder with a newer one with reverb, but he turned me down again. It seems there's nothing like the speaker response of an amp he broke in himself.

One guy here's selling a 10w Vox Pathfinder (among other amps) for 3k. Bargain hunters go hunt his post down and give him a ring. I tested it last night with an Ibanez ARX and it sounded real nice.
