Swing feel po.

Bale triplet, di ba? Imagine a triplet without the 2nd note of the 3. Tanggalin mo yung second note ng triplet. So dalawang 8th note triplets matitira. Then play that on your ride cymbal.

Punta kang Freedom Bar kapag lunes o kaya 19 East kapag linggo. Panoorin mo si "Mama" Mar. Lapitan mo siya't chikahin. Mabait yon. Magpakilala kang drummer, tutulungan ka non.

Meron bang drummer sa thread na 'to? Parang most I see are guitarists. Wala ring keyboardist. Or I'm not sure.

There were some very very basic rudiments taught to me before, kaso, I don't know what they're called hehe. :)

(walang kwentang comment)

Have you tried posting sa pinoydrums? Or searching over the internet (google: jazz drums tutorial)? I think a lot should be able to help you there. :)

usually, ung hi-hat ay sa 2 at 4 siya, while ung ride cymbal does the triplet swing (without the second note). tama si sir aya, ung snare does the comping thing. pati ung bass drum minsan puwede rin. pero you might want to start out with the four on floor thing - bass drum does quarter notes. parang sinasabayan ung walking bass pattern ng bass guitar. at siyempre wag kalimutan ang dynamics, very clear dapat mga cymbal patterns, ung snare ay hindi gumagawa ng backbeat so wag masyadong malakas, at ung bass drum kapag four on floor dapat very soft. sabi nila, "felt not heard". pero ako minsan kapag naggumagawa ng comping patterns sa bass drum nilalakasan ko ng kaunti, at sa mga accents din pala.

regarding the grips, you don't have to learn traditional naman siguro to play jazz. si sir mar dizon, matched grip din pero jazz. so i think kung anong comportable sayo. :)
anyway, try mo sa pinoydrum forum, i think nagkathread ata ng ganito, although matagal na ata. :)

sumasabay? you mean sumasabay na tumutugtog at the same time with the ride, or sumasabay na exactly the same pattern as the ride?
