Capacitor for Bridge Tone Pot
« on: October 26, 2008, 01:07:23 PM »
been toying w/ the electronics of my strat lately.
found out that standard strats use capacitors for the neck tone pot.

as my other tone pot is dedicated for the bridge, was wondering if putting a capacitor there will give me a rounder bridge pup tone.   is this worth pursuing?  if so, how do i do it?

appreciate your inputs.
thanks in advance.

God bless.

Wait, aren't standard strats wired with tone pots for neck and mid pickups?

If your strat is wired stock, the easiest way to do put a tone control on the bridge pickup it is to connect the remaining free terminal on the 5-way switch to the terminal beside it.  The 2nd tone pot will then control both the mid and bridge pickups at the same time.

put a .1uF cap just like the EJ Strat. that's higher than the normal .047uF or .022uF caps which should roll-off more highs(treble).

.1uf cap will make your strat neck pu lifeless... too much bass. my very first guitar was mij strat. 5 years ata.
