POD X3
« on: September 26, 2007, 11:38:30 PM »
I was planning to get the pocket POD, but now it seems the new X3 is about to be released.

Is this better than the Bogner + Line 6 stuff. Hahahahaha, just kidding.

"POD X3 also offers powerful new dual tone modeling and routing options. Split your single-input guitar or bass signal through two different amp and effect chains simultaneously to create gorgeous new hybrids, or use X3’s dual inputs to individually process two instruments—a microphone and a guitar, for example—at the same time. Whether you’re playing through a P.A., amp or recording rig, plug your microphone into the XLR input to make vocals and acoustic guitars sound their absolute best."

sounds interesting. i would be careful with the bogner and POD claim though...that statement could be quite provocative to some people. I am all out of popcorn and beer so make sure not to start anything without me!

I would imagine that having a tube DI of some sort or a good quality optical compressor would help the tones achieve a more organic sound if that is what you are looking to accomplish. I've never used a Presonus tube pre so I can't say how different or better it might make the amp sim recording. I can say that I am curious about this new POD and if it does sound better than my XT Pro...I might have to trade those in if I dig the new POD enough. The fact that it comes in a nifty pedal unit makes taking the thing around much more attactive than lugging around the XT Pro with a midi footswitch for recording at other people's pads. We'll see.

Apparently it has USB2. If it can record through USB2, does that mean no more need for a sound card?

Damn, they sure are marketing it right too, the internet is abuzz. Nov 15 pa labas ata.

They were pero I think the earlier Pods were USB 1.1. At least with the higher bandwidth of USB2, you shouldn't experience dropouts barring any chipset incompatibilities or system conflicts..
