 :-D hello,, when dumping from DAW like KORG, Roland ect to Computers, HD recorders, ect.. It's best to used the digital out, fire wire or USB, sound degration will be solve.. :wink: In case you want to used the analog outs, be  sure you know how to remaster it on your software to regain the degration back.. :-o

I agree. 16-bit has an apparent 'graininess' at very low levels. Fades are also smoother at 24-bit.

That is due to the fact that 16-bit has larger volume increment scalings compared to 24-bit. 

It is pretty much like comparing two meter sticks, one whose accuracy is up to a millimeter, and the other whose accuracy is up to a micrometer.  If you measure using the latter meterstick to measure and cut pieces of paper, you'll have more accuracy (and you have the capability to cut up to a micrometer) while the other can only measure up to a millimeter, and that is the largest paper you can cut.

While this is true to a certain extent, remember that adding dither can smooth it out somewhat.
