hi, i'm looking to buy a new crash and i was wondering if a 17" crash would fit well in a setup with a 16" china. although i play alot of other types of music, metal is what i usually play.

also, would a 17" crash fit well in something like hiphop or funk?

opinions are greatly appreciated. thanks.

it would take a lot to overpower any china 14" and up. kakaiba kasi attack ng china e, talagang mahirap sapawan. tapos kung gusto mo siguraduhin na swak yung tunog nila sa isa't isa... eh di dalhin mo yung china mo sa pagbibilhan mo ng crash, itesting mo sila magkasama tas pakinggan mo kung okay yung timpla.

yep.

i have to agree with plep.

it takes alot of crash power to over come a china cymbal.

the aggresiveness of a china is the one who usually over powers the other cymbals

at lastly, another +1 for plep.

bring your cymbals when buying another. check if it has it's sound chemistry.

a wrong china with a wrong crash may lead to disastrous results :D

plano ko kasing bilhin stagg myra o furia rock crash, 16" or 17".

which is exactly why i'm selling my old crash and getting a new one. hindi kasi bagay sa china and splash. tama dalhin ko nalang yung china sa next purchase ko.

salamat po sa mga replies!

Furias are really really really nice.

yep. . .

same here. . .

i tried all the crash cymbals of stagg in hi-fi..

but what caught my ear was the SH series.
hard to believe that this is their low end model.

hmmm yesterday, i went to TMS. and what i can say.

if you want a bright rock crash? go for the MYRA

if you want a hot-simmering crash? go for the FURIA

but when it comes to versatility? i'd still go for the SH's. really damn good.

haven't heard the DH exo's though. . .

whats your china and splash anyway???

hi, i'm looking to buy a new crash and i was wondering if a 17" crash would fit well in a setup with a 16" china. although i play alot of other types of music, metal is what i usually play.

It would really depend on the model, specs, and sounds of the crash and China cymbals, and the amount of force you'll apply when hitting it.

Like for example...  Given that you have a 16" China.  Then match it with either a 17" K Custom model (generally darker, smoother, and blends in more) or a 17" Z Custom model (generally brighter, cutting, and very aggressive)...  Those are two different stories.

Or...  A Wuhan China cymbal is generally louder and more aggressive-sounding than most China cymbals made by the leading cymbal manufacturers.  That's another story.

So, it really depends.

also, would a 17" crash fit well in something like hiphop or funk?

I'm in a band that plays hip-hop and R&B, and I have a couple of 17" crashes (one K Custom Hybrid model & one K Custom Dark model), so yeah it fits well.  Again, it depends on the cymbal's model, specs, and sound.

@plep

i'm using a 10" stagg sh splash and a 16" dh china. tingin mo, babagay yung furia?

@drumster
thanks for the insights. really informative. hindi lang pala cymbal size yung tinitignan pag ganito. i'll probably try a slightly darker sounding crash (here's hoping the furia fits that bill) and bring my china along while choosing.

hahaha

i'm currently using an 18" DH china and an 8" SH splash!

haha

yeah, i think that would work.

but, i prefer using SH's as it sounds like a K custom (hot, Simmering tones with a touch of thrashiness.)

go man. ansarap mamili ng cymbal :D
