better clean the chrome first with metal polish then see if it needs to be re-chromed..though chroming can be quite expensive.. :|

for your drum parts like lugs and hoops powder coating works wonders with bringing a new look to your project

drum wraps also can give your drum a nice makeover or you may opt to paint it..

@tetherboy,

maganda yang binabalak mo bro..for me restoring is so much fun!..I was in a dillema of buying a new set and letting go of my forum (same as yours )..napaisip ako na pwede na yung drums ko dahil newbie drummer lang naman ako..so I decided to clean up my set..I had the hoops and lugs powder coated and painted the shells with acrylic epoxy paint..bought some new hardware to replace the old ones and voila..I was so happy when the project was finished..I told my self I think I am happier now that buying a new one if I did..pawis at pasensya ang puhunan mo pag restore and pag natapos na ang sarap ng feeling!

Just to share bro!..

Update us on your restoration project! post some pics pag tapos na..

Goodluck and God bless..

how can i restore my old drumset? or is it worth restoring pa ba??
nagdadalawang isip ako kasi i'm saving up for a good drum set kahit second hand kaso naiinip ako. gusto ko sana habang nagiipon may napapalo ako sa bahay...kung mapapalitan kaya ng magandang heads yun at sa good muffling magtutunog drums kaya yun???kahit batter side lang meron??

try dipping the hardwares sa coke....nakakatanggal daw ng rust yun  pero if youre saving for a new kit...i think relplacing it with drum heads might do the trick :-) para tipid:)

just my thoughts
