ang sinabi ni lennon_reincarnate ang pinaka "in-touch" na method na nabasa ko. dadagdagan ko lang dahil pwede kong sabihin na kumikita kami ng "totoong pera" sa pag do Do It Yourself namin. And to think na di pa full force ang marketing campaign namin pero heto ang napulot naming style sa mga successful indie bands.
Unang una... race is not a MAJOR issue. Pangalawa, embrace digital. Pangatlo... huwag kayong matakot na mapirata ang mga awitin ninyo. Alam nyo ba na number one factor preventing an artist to succeed is not PIRACY?
The number one reason why aspiring artists don't succeed is OBSCURITY!
Hobby ba ito or CAREER! Pang pilipinas lang ba kayo o pang INTERNATIONAL? How much TIME are you willing to INVEST? How far are you willing to go? Alam nyo ba na you can be HUGE around the world without being so in the Philippines?
THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX!
Heto ang ginagawa namin. The five of us agreed to invest 2 hours a day to meet people online. Right now we have a song called "my bestfriend's girlfriend" on our website. We're giving it away for free! The song's genre is similar to that of Fall Out Boy, the Killers, Death Cab for Cutie, Green Day and All American Rejects. What we did was agreed to send a message to each and every fan of those bands. Our message read something to this effect...
"Hi! this is paco and I play drums for a band called INTRoVOYS (
www.introvoys.net). I noticed that we're both fans of Green Day. As such, I'd like to invite you to check out our new indie single entitled "my bestfriend's girlfriend" on our website and download it for free if you like it! If you do like it, don't give a copy to your friends. Instead tell them to download it from our website. By the way, we also have other songs posted. Don't forget to leave a comment to let me know how we can sound better. I'll make sure to tell the rest of my boys about it!"
Of course, when these people go to our website (and you can check it out for yourself), they already know the type of song that they'll be listening to. They end up downloading it and emailing us for more! And since puti nga sila... ayaw nila ng piracy so they end up buying the rest of the album. They become "friends" of ours. We correspond via chat and emails. They come to the show and sing the songs!
I cannot tell you how many times I've had to translate the lyrics of Kailanman to English. And yes... we're in production to come out with our own music videos. We're not waiting for other people to do that for us.
The fan base is growing. the marketing platform (myspace, facebook, youtube) is FREE! All you need to invest in is time!
