Pleasant snapshots there kittypurry / starsinasyringe! I've done photography and videography but I'm only borrowing DSLR cameras from friends. I'm choosing Canon over Nikon over those that I've borrowed and tried. Now, I'm planning to get the Canon EOS Kiss X4 / Rebel T2i / 550D as my first DSLR camera. Can you provide some reviews about it? Thanks!

Anyways, it actually took me more than half a year reading reviews about Canon vs Nikon since I didn't have the same privilege you have of friends from whom I can borrow from. But I feel I made the right decision heehee.
Regarding the 550D, Grunge (my 550D) has been so far enough for my needs since I am only a hobbyist. Though sometimes, I crave to have that full-frame capabilities that higher level DSLRs give. The 550D is pinched between its entry-level (1100D) and nominally enthusiast (50D) peers. However, except for the built, its functions are closely common to the 7D likes (as per reviews I've read.) I'm happy with my gear since I plan to master the basics first before moving on with higher levels (and more expensive) gears. So basically, if gusto mo muna mag-aral talaga from the roots, sulit na yun 550D, for its price and funtionality. Pero check out ka din, oks yun 600D! Tapos if ayaw mo ng bulky alam ko may ilalabas silang bago, 'di ko lang alam yun price.
I plan to buy a prime lens and maybe some zoom before moving on. Kelangan ko pa din malaman kasi anong leanings ko. Now I'm more into macro/nature and portrait. Hehe.
(Sabi din nila if into videography ka, Canon daw talaga. Tapos personal na napansin ko lang, AND NOT GENERALIZING, most ng Nikon users mahilig sa rich colors, yun Canon sa mga desaturated na timpla ang PP.)Feel free to PM me for more questions!
