@dualcoil

EPAL!

E P A L I T E (noun)
Etymology From Filipino word epal.Pronunciation /eh pal AYT/

1. (obsolete) A person of borderline intelligence in the former classification of mental retardation with an emotional quotient of 0-2 and who pretends to be and acts like someone who is not.

2. (informal) A person who makes uncool, unfunny, uninteresting, or irrelevant attempts to impress others and draw attention to himself, especially in a flawed attempt to act like who knows everything.

Usage notes: Though originally a psychological, clinical, and medical term, it is currently used as a pejorative term against someone of low intelligence, or even as just a general pejorative. Current term for having delusions of pretending to be a MASTER of something.

Maling pananaw yun

Hindi ganun!

Teka, teka!

I coined the term EPALITE on another board!

It actually connotes to certain members na ume-epal sa mga admin para maging moderator.

I didn't know it has spread this far...

Everyone here deserves respect. It's important to own up to your mistakes din, whatever they may be. Again, a little bit of humility goes a long way. We could all do with a little more niceness too. It's important to defend our chosen crafts but let's keep it chill fellas!

yeah! even DJ Chris Kilmore of Incubus uses the MOOG!

Kit is right. hardware gigging in DJing has been around as long as the turntables bit. dualcoil, use these bands as a quick reference that DJing includes a ton of instrumentation NOT limited to decks alone:

Orbital, BT, Crystal Method, Dust Brothers, Justice, Solstice, Underworld, Boom Boom Satellites, Prodigy (a great, great example since Liam tours with a scaled down version of a Nasa command center!), Christopher Lawrence, Telefon Tel Aviv, Grand Poobahs, KMFDM, Erasure, Blaqk Audio...and tons and tons more.

thanks.. uu yung prodigy, napanuod ko dati concert nila at hindi turntable ang gamit nila nun.they use a sampler or loops to keep the party and crowds go wild. pati yung gumawa ng "Block rock beat" sa woodstock99 ang lupit din..

@dualcoil: that would be "Block Rockin' Beats"...by the Chemical Brothers, another duo that uses hardware. i saw them live during the early 90s when they first started touring and they were really good. i haven't seen them around in a while but I do know that Ed still Djs regularly.

..BAMF, wait, PIMP doesn't exist anymore?

PIMP will rise again...in a new studio in Sta Ana, Manila. It might take some time tho because the building has to be erected first. Jepoy has started his own as well.

The original studio was washed out in the flood of Typhoon Frank.

i see. hopefully there wasn't as much damage done to the equipment and you were able to salvage a lot of it. i knwo some people that lost their homes and studios in the floods of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans but equipment can always be replaced, lost lives are irreplaceable. good luck on the new venture.

@dualcoil: no problem. there are a lot of bands out there and more are always coming out.
