I bought an Artec Power Brick from hi-fi Lounge last Sunday...

I was planning on figuring out at what point it'll start to hum and test if individual regulated and individual hum filtered 8-channel power supply was real or just marketing. So, I lined up 6 pedals.

As many of you know, mapili sa power supply yung mga Line 6 Tonecore pedals and kalimitan, ayaw niyang may kasama siya sa daisy chain. So, pinagsabay ko yung Echo Park tsaka Verbzilla. Hehehe. My DIY power supply can handle both at the same time, without any noticeable hum, but I couldn't add anything else. So, pushing my test further, sinamahan ko pa ng Digitech Chorus Factory, which, while not as finicky as the Tonecores, tends to hum a bit when daisy chained with other pedals, too. Rounding out the chain were a Boss Power Stack, an OCD and a Pitchblack.

I expected the rig to hum very loudly. My plan was to take out one pedal at a time until the rig stopped humming. Surprisingly, I never got the chance to do that. Aside from the typical noise from the Power Stack at high gain, the whole thing was impressively quiet.

Needless to say, the Power Brick performs REALLY well.

I do have a few very minor issues, though. First, in some cases, the DC cables might be too short if you plan on mounting the Power Brick underneath a pedal board. Second, all the DC cables have right angle plugs, so why can't they have a right angle plug for the wall-mount adaptor, too?

All in all, this was a really good buy for me. The only thing left for me to know is how long I can rely on this until it breaks.

sweet. great review on the entwistle pu's in the other thread btw.  8-)

mga bro, Tanung ko lang ..kung di ba bitin sa distortion yung Artec Soloist distortion? balak ko sana kumuha.. Tnx!

You should get one.... :-) I like the Contour knob.... 8-)
It is highly recommendable for almost all genres...blues,rock,hard rock,jazz,alternative,grunge....However,IMO, its not recommendable for heavy metal songs with scooped distortion ones(Pantera,Megadeth,etc...)..

Its a great addition to your dirt/distortion pedals.... :-)

Even the Artec Crazy Metal doesn't have that much gain on tap.

Thanks! Just want to keep it real here.

I have one, pero di kasi ako marunong kumilatis ng compressor pedals. All I know is that I like it more than the Boss CS-3.

The Artec Soloist distortion can also be used as a great blues/rock n roll pedal....All you need's a good tweekin'....What I do is I put the contour around 9 or 11 o'clock position then you can adjust the Gain according to your taste....

I agree with the comment above, but if youre not yet into "dirt pedal collecting", then get the phase shifter first.... :-)

Love my Artec APW5  :-D

Pros:

Nice metal construction, nice sweep (hindi bitin), if you set the range to 0- 2 pwede na pang- Alice in Chains, Metallica, Razorback.. Set your range to 3 up medyo manipis na tunog di ko type...Hehe..

Cons:

Slight volume drop when engaged pero pag may kasama ka na banda di na siguro halata.  :-D

I just bought a Duo Drive Blender. ok naman. sakto lang. though I really wanted the Twinhead.. medyo tight budget ngeyon eh.

sound: ok lang sakin yung Crunch. Yung Heavy, parang nabibitin ako paminsan-minsan. (maybe because i'm using a cheap amp). kasi nung tinest ko sa store, ayos naman sakin yung "bigat" nung tunog eh..

structure: mukhang tatagal naman. metal casing. though the knobs are quite "ughh" especially yung dalawang maliit na knobs for setting the gain.

i have the Artec CHR3 for a week now, and its nothing but pure joy..

what i like about it is it nails 80's hair band chorus sounds, leslie type tones and other experimental sounds (ill demo later)

as much as i would like to explain it in specific terms i cant..because its that good! and its tweak-ABLE..

the feedback knob is a neat feature..roll it down below 12 for clear(near artec vintage chorus clarity) or put it past 12 for some nice ooomph..
