ang bilis parang motor! those bluesy lines aren't quite in the pocket but great speed indeed! Dapat dinagdagan nya ng arpeggios para may contrast naman dun sa mga fast scalar stuff nya.

I saw a video of Guthrie & Alex jammin' in youtube. Rotosound booth ata yun, sa NAMM.

Guthrie is an awesome player, I just find Alex' playing fresh.

Don’t forget that playing clear and simple is a kind of virtuosity too!

Sige nga, mag shred ka sa mga mahihirap na Wayne Shorter ballads? Doesn’t it sound horrible???

Less is more, if you don’t know what I mean by that? then listen to the masters, Miles Davis, Sonny Rollins, Bill Evans, Jim Hall and the likes. John Scofield doesn’t even play fast busy lines on a fast tune, but his sense of groove, harmony and melody can kill you (not literally of course).

Chops alone won’t save your life in a professional jam session.

actually bro, dami mabibilis na lines si scofield sa En Route album pero may groove pa rin. scofield fan here hehe.

i used to shred all the time and soon however, naumay ako to shred in every phrase of the song so I tried to learn other stuffs with more feel and bleeding notes (ballads from skid row, tesla etc...) and lately, I dug into my collection and found an interesting way to shred....REB BEACH style. how could i have ever missed out on his playing??? (wala nang hihirit sa edad at genre ko at sasakalin ko kayo! hahaha!

)

He also had problems with shredding long runs and he didn't wanted to so he deviced another way
the sound is cool enough for me, try it! you may take interest in learning his way of shredding

Sometimes namimiss interpret natin ang shredding actually. Pag shredding minsan kailang heavy ang tugtugan tapos mabigat ung drive. I really think shredding are just fast runs.... WHICH I STILL CAN'T DO.
