hey..while we're at the topic of Pop songs..
my wife just introduced me to Kitchie Nadal's songs(i know she looks great, but now lang ako nakinig ng music nya hehe)... sino yung guitar player nya? galing ng phrasing at super catchy ng mga solos...
i particularly like the song Same Ground, the guitar solo in the song is very sweet.

The intro and solo on EWF's version of the Beatles 'Got to get you into my life'

Ditto sa Carpenters 'Goodbe to Love' and 'Im Easy' ng Commodores

'Nothings Gonna Stop as now' by Jefferson Starship - solo was by then rocker pa na Craig Chaquico. Im not sure pero ganda nun.

'My Love' solo ( McCartney and Wings)

Kung sino man siya, Jeff ata ang pangalan, he has long been fired along with the rhythm section. Yung kasama ni Kitchie ngayon si Jack Rufo, yung producer nya sa album na yon.

Hayp's I'll Wait For You was one of those songs that came out on the radio that made me really want to listen to more LSFM back in the day. Noel Mendez is king!

As for non Pinoy music, I'll have to go with Stevie Ray Vaughn's solo in David Bowie's Let's Dance. I like the way he holds those notes and those vibratos...man...

For me, the best pop song solo is from a PINOY band. It's the one on "Parting Time" by Rockstar. Very melodic and it compliments the song. Nothing flashy. Just plain kick ass guitar solo.

The flashiest solo that I like is "Wait" by White Lion. /me bows down to Vito Bratta. Any solo by Vito Bratta is good. This guy is so underrated.

I also like Easy Lover by Phil Collins.
