specs:

cpu - amd athlon 64 x2 5600
gpu - nvidia geforce 8600gt

maybe your cpu is running other task..check your "Windows Task Manager" Ctrl Alt Del,then, search for other running exe.file in CPU that consume a high percentage at Processes Tab.. click 'End Process'.

add some case fans kahit 80mm lang, tatluhin mo na dahil masyado mataas temp nyan. Saradong sarado siguro casing mo at walang butas.

80'C and 63'C for a CPU and GPU respectively isn't dangerous (it's close though), but yeah. You need better cooling.

Aside from the intake/outtake idea mentioned, consider borrowing branded thermal compound from a friend (Arctic Silver, TM-2, etc.). Remove your CPU heatsink, scrape off the stock thermal paste, and use the branded compound. Instant -10'C off your temperature yan, if thermal paste was stock before. Works on the GPU die as well, but it might be harder to remove the fan assembly depending on your card. :-)

Consider putting more case fans in your casing. this will make you PC a bit nosier, but will help a lot in air circulation.

You might also want to see if your wiring are tamed and are not blocking your case's airflow.

Also, you might want to re-apply your thermal interface material (Thermal paste).

Also, you might want to check if your heat sink fan is already accumulating dust. But of course this is if your Idle temp is also high. although if this temps are only occurring when you play NBA live, I think it's just fine.

i play crysis and some other games in my PC but it never reaches those temps.

I have idle temps at around 29-31 on a cool day and 34-36 on a hot summer noon.

Load temps are at around 40-44.

what app are you using to monitor your temps? it might also be that the app is messing up the reading. i use SpeedFan.

@sjon14 sige try kong lagyan ng thermal compound... gaano nga pala karami ang ilalagay ko?

@bgomez core temp gamit ko para ma monitor temperature ng cpu ko.

salamat sa replies  :-D

Tatlo na case fan? Question, tama ba yung airflow direction? Yung sa harap, dapat intake. Yung sa likod, exhaust. Yung sa gilid (if meron), intake din. Check the air direction with your hand. Kung puro intake, or puro exhaust, temperature could rise instead of drop. Also, if your case supports 120mm fans, try them out. Mura na lang naman yan ngayon. More cu-ft/min of air and it's much quieter.

About the thermal compound, I think it varies from brand to brand, but with Arctic Silver 5, Antec Silver Formula, and Arctic Cooling MX-2 - you apply a very small amount similar to half a grain of rice. Then you rub it all over the CPU die very thinly - thin enough to still make out the inscribed info on the metal shield.

hmm... I personally use Tuniq-TX2 as my thermal compound and I've been very happy with it.

Yeah, i agree with what our co-forumers have said, check the airflow of each case fans.

Also, you might want to check if your power supply is generating heat like crazy, the heat it produces might also be affecting the whole system's general temp.

Do you have enough breathing room for your computer case? I recommend that you allot at least a couple of inches of space for your case to breathe.

my client rigs..AMD X2 240 2.8ghz (2x2.8ghz DC) Socket AM3 processors ,loaded with latest games.. atx casing vent's are sealed with clear tape for the dust not to intrude cpu...maalikabok kasi sa area namin kasi main road..and "NO casing fan or exhaust fan" installed!but the PC never overheats nor hangs..after many hours of usage..32degrees idle, 42 degrees loaded..

AM3 processors are built to be very efficient, that's why it's still relatively cold under load. :)
