i bought it for 5k. the stock R50 lacks high-end definition which the v30 adds to your tone. parang ang muddy and weak na ng R50 compared to the v30 na mas balanced and mataba ang highs. go for it!

EDIT: BTW i take back my comment saying the v30 has less bass than the R50, this has plenty more especially when cranked!

check mo muna yung thermal resistor ba yun na nakakabit dun sa amp jewel lamp...yun kasi unang issue sa cub. kung under warranty pa pagawa mo sa JB...kelan mo nabili?

Busted na pala yung isang 6V6GT. where can i buy a replacement for it? any suggestions mga sir? brands and where to buy? meron kaya sa deeco? should i buy in pair or single lang? noob talaga ako pag-dating sa tube amp. hehehehe
nagbabasa basa nga ako ngayon ng mga article about tubes and tube amps. patulong po ulit ako mga sir. TIA

go 12r na! hahahaha. plugging mine for 13k or 17k with a celestion v30.

yup I would agree. the Cub 12R has a <1W function for bedroom jams, and the 15W mode can get really loud, and more if you dial in the gain. so much flexibility right there

the amp is also light compared to combos with the same size speaker. actually it's easy to lug around. the effects loop is also a plus

Nah, I already have an EL84 combo e. GAS-ing for the Cub 10 since it uses at 6V6 circuit, just so there's some variety in my amps.

Hey guys! Just bought a cub10 this afternoon from a fellow forumer. Noob question lang, first time ko kasi mag tube amp Medyo sabog kasi yung tunog at low volumes. Ganun ba talaga ang tube? Parang kulog yung tunog pag hindi naka set sa mataas yung gain at volume. Is there something wrong sa amp? or ganun lang talaga sya?

Shouldn't do that. At the lowest settings it should sound clean.

Couple of things to check. Speaker cone, tubes, or check kung rusted ang guitar strings. By the way, don't go tinkering with the insides of a tube amp, lethal voltages lurk there.

That the one selling for 6k?  Didn't get to try it first?

Not sure what you're trying to describe.  If you mean dark and muddy, it can be old tubes.  Or you just have to turn the amp up.  It gets brighter by quite a bit, and warmer sounding at low volumes.  Just the way the master volume behaves, just like the volume on your guitar if it doesn't have a treble bleed cap.  If you mean a crackly sound, the pots can be dirty and just needs cleaning.

Ive talked to mang raul when i brought my cub12r for repair regarding changing the stock speakers with v30 and the likes pero sabi nya hindi daw advisable  kasi hindi daw match sa wattage tapos sabi nya "lalakas pero mahina" whatevr that means

I always argue that the Laney Cub10 (and other members of the series) are one of the best choices for a first tube amp. I'll be "quitting" guitar for now, so just to put it out there, I'll be selling my Cub10 soon.

Pasali po. Just got my  Cub12r last Wed. Yehey!

replaced my Cub12r's stock tubes more than month ago (may tama yung isang preamp tube so pinalitan ko lahat) and i've since then gigged and jammed with it a couple of times.
JJ el84's + Mullard 12ax7 on V1 + JJ 12ax7's on V2 and V3
i didn't bias (i read somewhere that i didn't have to, i forgot why. hahaha.)

tone improvements:
-more clean headroom (this maybe because i didn't bias the tubes)
-nice fat compression instead of early preamp drive
-overall, subtle tone changes lang, more on how the amp handles your dynamics

tibay talaga nitong amp na to...
though bedroom amp ko lang siya, buhay pa rin siya hanggang ngayon (more than 3 years na ata).
still sound as good as i first bought it.. yun nga lang, yun ilaw niya minsan hindi nagana.. pero ilaw lang naman yun e. 

mejo still too loud for bedroom use sometimes, so i bought a friend for him. 


question guys.. gusto kong palitan sana yun tweed/cloth o kun anu man tawag dun sa parang takip nun front speaker, gusto kong gawin kulay brown, para vintage ang dating (tulad nun nsa Orange)... any inputs or where to get them or sinong gumagawa?  when the cub10 first arrived here, the brown cloth/tweed wasn't available pero ngayon sa website nila, meron na..
