DRUMS VST THREAD
« on: November 10, 2009, 01:17:48 PM »
Can't seem to find it in the "Search" function so I created one.

I've been using e-drums for 6 years now, and I must say that "electronic drums have come a long way" with regards to sound and playability. Although stock/factory sounds of e-drum modules are quite good, they still won't measure up (IMO) with the "more realistic" Drum Vsts around.

I'm currently using a Roland TD9KV with TOONTRACK SUPERIOR DRUMMER 2.2. I use this setup in almost all of my arrangements (those that needed "Live Drumming").

Below are links to some of my arrangements using Superior Drummer triggered by the TD9KV via Midi played live:

Share your thoughts, experiences, videos and music using your favorite drum vsts here. Thanks and God bless...

Ganda talaga. Although I'll be using Metal Foundry samples in different genres. I'm a big fan of big drums

That's an expensive but awesome setup. I'm just planning to use Toontrack EZdrummer on the TD3. I'm preparing my Lenovo X200 for this.

Are you using Sonar or Ableton?

Superior drummer 2.2 is very expensive

I'm using Pro Tools 8 sa Mac and Sonar 8 sa PC.

Mas flexible and tweakable vs. other Toontrack products or any drum vsts.

Haven't tried this pero I heard ok din ito. Musta latency niya when triggered by an e-drum live?

Thanks bro

Although in my opinion, iba din talaga pag pinaluan ng live drummer vs. played through a keyboard.

latency wise, I think you need a good audio panel/driver for it *whatever you call it*
like ASIO4ALL. i mean, 13 ms latency isnt that bad. and cubase allows realtime monitoring naman so maybe it could be used for live situations :) I use it for recording only so far. hahaha

As of now I'm playing with it pa  :-D and creating my own presets. Pero yung mga presets ng mga artists in it really replicates the drum sound of some songs by Slipknot, Meshuggah, Metallica, Slayer and Strapping Young Lad.

During live situations with my band, my brother is the drummer and he's using a similar setup nung sa akin (laptop nga lang sa kanya). No issues in latency so far. With my setup, I think I can go as low as 2ms or 5ms latency. Halos wala nang delay talaga.

Drum VST user here! :-D Gitarista nga lang ako. :-D

I program my drum tracks through midi tapos ginagamitan ko ng drum VST as audio/midi output.

Nagsimula ako dati sa EZDrummer then DFH Expansion.

Here are some samples na ginamit ko yun AD.
Sample 1
Sample 2
Sample 3

Btw, I'm still learning how to master my mix.

I tried installing Sonar 7 and EZdrummer last night. Still trying to figure out how to do this.

MYN11, you may want to give a Drum VST 101 to newbies like us  :-)

Good day bro.

Sorry ngayon ko lang nakita to. Ano na encounter mong problem sa Sonar and EZDRummer. Baka makatulong ako.

Usually, you have to add an "instrument track" then sa "insert" i-load mo yung ezdrummer. Ano controller/trigger mo sa ezdrummer mo? Keyboard or electric drums?
