Haha. I know there are cheaper LAVAs (magma, Blue Demon, etc) but I have not tested them yet and have no idea about their "tone". Dimarzio braided cables will also fit your budget for 1500 per cable but you'll seriously hear the difference when you A/B it against an ELC. Biglang parang dull sounding yung Dimarzio. Pero matibay siya, for what it's worth.  :-)

ok from work i drove to moa and got 1 blue demon cable. its a huge leap from the vintage voltage haha. 1,550 pesos, soldered siya. a decent cable, though i havent tried those soars. saved 700 pesos and im just happy i have a new working cable. 1 week nang sira ang cable ko eh haha.
I have stated that there are more bad sounding suhrs then there are good ones

Nice to know that. Thanks buddy!

Welcome.  :-)

Hahahaha! Good choice.  :-) I personally never liked the SOAR. Too stiff. Pwede mo isandal sa pader nang nakatayo. ELC might be the farthest (and most practical) I'll go for a good cable with a nice signal transfer. I do think the ELC has more "sparkle" than the SOAR based on experience.

the ELC i saw was like 2,600? which is 1,100 more haha. and honestly, im not a cable tone freak, i just need a decent working cable. this blue demon seems sturdy.. ill know when i get to use it more.

thanks for your lava suggestion!

I got the solderless set. Compared with a generic cable, Bullet cable makes your signal louder and clearer.

Been using regular cables for 15 yrs, then suddenly I saw philmusic, napa gastos tuloy ako
Since the "epiphany", I've used the following:
- Lava soar
- Lava blue demon
- George L regular nickel
- Geroge L masters
- Lava mini ELC patch kit
- George L patch kit
- Mogami patch cables w/ soldered pancake plugs

So far this is my conclusion on cables: You will hear the difference if you listen to it and look for the difference.  If you just rock your heart out, there's not much difference :-)  I still use my tourtek and dimarzio cables from time to time, wala naman dramatic difference.    On patch cables naman, this is where the huge difference is if madami pedals.  So invest more in a good patch cable, then get a decent guitar cable.  Siguro buy the premium guitar cables if 20ft na yung length.

Among the cables above, my favorite is the blue demon.  Sounds decent, madali i-ligpit, reliable, and very rugged, and mura pa.
Sa patch cables naman, george L patch cable kit.  Fast assembly, no signal loss, and reliable.  Tanggal-kabit ako ng pedals sa board, never bumigay sakin.  Mogami is okay, pero pancake plugs looks so-so, hehe.  In general, not much difference between Lava, George L and Mogami.  Tone suck is minimized, and that's what matters.  Lamang lang ang george L sa ease of assembly, as in super dali.  Reliable pa.

I tend to not use expensive cables because I'm sure to damage them at shows. Used to use Fender cables before and after my pedalboard, now I use Corts since they sound better than those vintage voltage cables and are less prone to breakage. I've literally dragged my guitar across the stage by pulling on the Cort and it works perfectly well to this day. I do this fairly regularly so I know they're durable.
Offset guitars for life.

Wow almost 6 years now for this thread  :)

I now use Lava Cable and Lava solder-free plugs for my pedals, George L from pedalboard to amp and Line 6 Relay G30 from guitar to pedalboard.

Not also fan of luxury cables, cable tone freak, or cable function whatever.  a good working standard cable for me is enough, thus, DIY cables ang gamit ko. Using professional, low noise, flexible, really goodquality cables soldered to good quality plugs... may control pa ako sa tibay  I'm using mine for I think 7 months na. okay na okay pa rin, plus I spent less than 500, FOR TWO LONG STURDY NICELY MADE CABLES. (suki eh  :-D (my business before))

But! given that I have the money, I think I'd also try buy those expensive cables, I mean they have good reviews eh, why not?

btw... newbie question. Aside from noise cancelling, louder signal/output, and durability... are there any other special function/offer it serves?
And baby if I need to, yeah I will keep you in the corner of my eye...

Franzdean,

"TONE"

wether we like it or not. Good cables(which mostly are expensive ones), has better conductor properties(how pure the conductor copper are inside), insulation shielding and proper spacing of the cladding. Hindi ito karaniwan alam ng players but essentially this are the technical means on why this cable sounds better than this. Higher specs means higher value/cost.

Imo not all DIY cables today are suspectible for these requirements.

Therefore not because it works its ok right? Unless you tried a really good cable.

I myself DIY my cables. But I choose what materials to use. MoGAMi is one.

I have been using my Clear Connects for about 4 to 5 years na ata. Or maybe 3. Works really well snd a big jump from normal cables. I recently bought DiMarzios though. I like the darker tone of them. Fir me these cables would suffice.

hmm good pointers, well I don't just buy a normal professional cable from raon, higher specs means higher value costs, kaya yung iba mas sobrang mahal talaga ang per meter. Anyway I think I should look forward on better cable for DIYs, hehe. Kasi better plugs pa lang ang nainvest ko for the DIY. (neutrik, original, ordered) as of the cable, I ask the guy where I buy electronic stuff. Naging tropa na, and he knows which cable is good, which is not. :))))) Actually di ko na rin maintindihan yung technical terms na sinasabi nya basta I just ask him to give me a good cable to use. plus he's giving me a good price :D

Wont hurt a bit right? its a big leap like the others here said. Try AudioPhile they got a bunch of good cables there.

To add, expensive patch cables like George L offers convenience, super bilis ikabit (like 10 sec per connector) and matibay sya.  For guitar cables though, I'd go for soldered like lava blue demon - hindi sya kamahalan (I think 1,200 lang), pero matibay na, maganda pa ang tunog.

Good observation. Compared sa Clear Connect, dark talaga tone ng Dimarzio braided cables.

Get the cheap Lava Magma Cable. And bombard it with shrink tubing from end to end (not the shafts of course) if that breaks, there's definitely something wrong with who's using it.

Samson Audio Tourtek (about ~600 for a 10ft cable) or a Dimarzio Braided cable (~1200).
