Hindi pa naman masyadong old itong thread na ito...  :-D

Paano po yung sinasabing Open Hand Technique?

and how to practice rudiments? and ano ba kaibahan ng RUDIMENTS sa DRUM FILLS?

Im just starting on drums palang kasi eh... Thanks!

open hand means you play your hihats with your left hand, snare with your right, in that way, your arms are in open position, rather than crossing it when you play the hats with your right hand...

rudiments are the fundamentals, like single strokes, doubles, triplets and paradiddles, learn more about rudiments here: http://talk.philmusic.com/board/index.php?topic=23797.0

drum fills are rudiments applied on the drums...

Practice blast beats (200 BPM pataas recommended), kahit traditional or alternate. Make sure that hindi ma-ooff-sync ang blasts mo. And DO NOT play open handed blast beats (left hand on cymbals, right hand on snare) because that would defeat the purpose of your left hand blasting on the snare!

nagkapag turo ako ng mga batang nag aral ng drums na left handed.. kaya lang pinilit ko talaga silang maging right handed sila din kasi mahihirapan balang araw pag tumugtog sila na ang set up is right hand.. madami din akong kilalang open handed na drummer like si carter beauford... kung ako sayo ung setup ni carter beauford ng dave mathews ung gayahin mo.. kasi madaming advanteges ng open handed tulad nya...

lrLlrr, lrLlrr, lrLlrr, lrLlrr,
lrlLrr, lrlLrr, lrlLrr, lrlLrr

Eto magandang exercise, i'm still doing this everyday. Not only to practice your left hand but to practice accenting and paradiddles  nadin.

I watched something also about Japanese Kodo Drummers (Heartbeat Drummers) They always use their left hand (or which is weaker) so they can be ambidextrous.

Good luck satin bro I'm also at this!  :-D
