Actually there is an ideal...but not between grip styles...more on how you hold em. whatever grip it is, the key and objective is not to strain your thumb muscles on the palm area near your wrist, not to strain your forearm muscles from elbow to wrist, and shoulder muscles.. doing so will hamper your speed  efficiency and time. even if you are relaxed if you holding em wrong, strain is inevitable. Habang maaga palang grip it right, and worry about style later. There is no one way that is correct, sometimes the way i hold it is not effective for others, and vice versa.

ako match grip din pero Filipino style. meaning kung ano yung nakasanayan mo at effective para sayo yun na yun.wala namang tama at mali dito. mali nalang siguro pag na injure mo yung sarili mo by doing your prefered grip.

mga opinions ko  po... medyo weird..
depende lahat sa players yan e.. some won't work.. some will do..
iba iba tayo ng structure ng kamay.. may mataba daliri,mahaba.. etc..
anyway..
trad-when playing beats, circular motion ang saltik ng snare hand ko, nakita ko ito kay Neil Peart.. kasi sabe niya it's better to go with the motion than to fight it..ayun.. when playing double strokes,i use my index finger as my bida.. hehe..
pati din pag singles.. di ko masyado gumagamit ng thumb.

german-for me power talaga dito.. dahil wrist ang bida dito.. pag ganito.. ang partners ko ay thumb and index finger.. for accents and my three fingers(middle, ring and pinkie) for my double strokes..

french- puro fingers ito at support and thumb.. at mas magnda ito sa mga delicate playing sa drums.. ayun..
it's my opinion and some thought shared to me by other drummers both personally at ung video ni Neil Peart.. hehe.. some grips will work for you, and not for me.. vice versa.. it's for you to know what works for you best..

Totoo yan. Sabi ni Dave Weckl, mapa-trad or matched grip ka, walang kaso yun.

correct! napanood ko din yun... hehehe. dapat nga pantay lang, what you could do in a trad grip, you can do with a matched grip. depende na lang sa drummer kung ano ang gusto niyang gamitin, parang sabi ata ni Weckl is parang depende sa emotion ng drummer, please correct me if it's wrong... pero parang yun yung narinig ko sa video nya...

meron pa nga silang tinatawag sa trad grip na "The Golden Grip"...ilan sa mga drummer na gumagamit nun ay sina Vinnie Colaiuta, Dave Weckl at Steve Gadd. i got that info from Koko Bermejo.

practicing doubles has helped alot for my hand speed. tapos nung medyo bago pa ko sa drums, nag-eendurance test ako. continuous singles, doubles, triplets, and/or paradiddles at a given tempo with a set time. if i'm comfortable with one tempo already, i'll speed it up etc etc.

constant practice din, pati trying out new things. speed comes with time, so i never practice with speed as my goal. i practice to grow as a musician, speed is only a beneficial side-effect of that.

few tips para sa left hand mo. parang nasuggest ko na rin to last time.
eto mga ginagawa ko

1. nilipat ko mouse ng PC ko sa kaliwa (akala tuloy dito sa office, kaliwete ako)
2. brush your teeth using your left hand
3. pagnagsasalin ng tubig mula sa pitchel
4. pagbukas ng pinto
5. at syempre, use your left pagmagkakamot ng wetfox.

mukhang mahirap nga yan kung yung kanang pisngi na ang makati. pero may solution pa rin...

hawakan mo ng kaliwang kamay yung drum stick mo tapos yung stick ang pangkamot mo.

Moeller technique on singles, doubles etc. You'll learn how to relax your wrist while developing speed. Don't jump into a higher speed kung di mo pa kayang pumalo consistently nang matagal. It'll take weeks or months, but it's worth it.

Save up for a drumpad, malaking tulong to bro. Good luck!
