yeah, That's why it is unfair in our opinion.

compared to the industry before that really searches not only marketability but also raw talent of bands.

ngayon, basta pasok sa market, ayun.

pasok na sa scene.. :-(

OPM needs a change this new decade :-)

there should be a new genre. Where alternative music plus technical music combined.

Let's step it up! :-)

also sa music

Pinoy pride.

"Alternative" is not a genre. It is something outside the mainstream. "Technical" is also not a genre. It is a way of doing things skillfully.

That's why we have terms like "ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE" and "TECHNICAL WRITING".

Minsan they play on the safe side by promoting "acts" (not necessarily artists) na alam nilang magaakyat ng pera sa kanila. Also, piracy is an issue here too.

How good is your band anyway?

dyan kasi papasok ang palakasan.

tama ka dyan. maraming magagaling na musikero ang hindi nabibigyan ng atensyon.. palakasan nalang ang nangyayari ngayon. di mo na malaman kung talagang marunong o musikero ang kumukuha eh.. i mean ung mga nagmamanage.. supposed to be dapat marunong din sila in terms of music.. pero wala eh.. fashion na yata bumebenta ngayon eh. hindi na musika. yung iba nakikita mo nalang sa tv pero napapa-iling ka nalang.. haayyy...
nakakalungkot lang talaga.  :-(

as far I know, metal will never be mainstream here.

sadly :(

but.. seriously, my band is creating this new genre, we mixed old hard rock riffs and shredding guitar solo's. With mainstream alternative rock sounding songs..

may gig kami with juan dela cruz this feb 05 :)

hope big break na namin yun..

Not to be nitpicking but that, I think, is wrong. It's just like saying that one object is black and white at the same time. Those terms are polar opposites.

grabe...mainit tong thread na to ah, well bigay lang ako ng opinion about the artists...na pinost ni mr. TS

duster, made my day with that song, ngayon ko lang nakita yung video(at oo maganda nga si katwo)
i liked the song even before i saw the vid, guess i'm one of those whos likes the music first before the band..
the song, dance-able, gives me the disco techno vibe, not bad, in my opinion...

im not a fan though..just like the song...

kay mr. TS, tama yung sinabi nung other forumites..first lagi ang love for music, bonus na lang kung bubuhayin ka ng music mo...the way you presented yourself in this thread, mejo negative brad eh..kahit sino makakaamoy ng talangka... di maganda yun... eh ano kung sila may label at may vid, enjoy ka naman kasama ng band mo?
dont take stuff like these too serious bro..isipin mo na lang kung bakit ka nag-start sa music..kung ang dahilan ay para kumita, siguro di pa sapat yung effort mo, or better yet, baka talaga para sayo..

dont bring others down just because you did'nt make it, yet.
bad yun man..baddddddd....

yeah umiinit na nga.. pero lets make a healthy conversation here.. just opinions and suggestion or reactions..or whatsoever..hindi tayo nagaaway dito.. nagbibigay lang ng nasa saloobin..  :-)

Sorry pero i Agree with Stompbox..

What's wrong with Duster anyway?  The vocalist there, Katwo, has been struggling as hard as all of us here.  Her old band Narda, which was awesome, disbanded (that was a very underrated band).  Sure, they have Myrene and Kris Dancel there.  Sure, Raimund and Lourd actually created that band (yes, Duster is a concept band).

Deal with it.

You think you deserve airtime?  Perfect your craft.  Write good songs.  Gig and put yourself out there.

And stop whining.

nun lumaban nga kami ng batle of the bands sa rizal nag champion kami
ayun pag balik namin after 1 year ang dami ng metallica at wolfgang fanatics dun eheheh

we all have to swallow the bitter pill some time in our musical lives...

and for those who are still wondering, you will soon wake up that making music is not a sweet walk in the park...

Labels will not bank on talent without marketability just because money does not grow on trees...

But why do we still do it?

We decided to play certain brands of music that is not widely appreciated by the masses, we have to deal with the fact that not all people will like what we do and that's what makes us unique and special...

That's how i fell in love with rock music anyway it makes you feel you are apart from the rest...At some point too naging jaded din ako pero the music weighed more than TV exposure or singles being played on the radio...Play sincere and people will listen, di ba yun yung goal natin as musicians? Get our message across? Mababait naman din yang mga yan as persons, it's just that they took a diffferent path from us...

AT THE END OF THE DAY WE ARE ALL JUST MUSICIANS MAKING MUSIC..

that's just one song.  get the album, you might enjoy it.

as far as i'm concerned, they sound good and look good on stage.  especially kris dancel.  grab you by the balls. what a performer!

i happen to like the drummer's sound.  look at her play, her throw is awesome.  from shoulder to snare head, solid "whomp"!.  she really sounds good.  hindi man technical, masarap parin pakinggan.  :-)
