Well, try the Bareknuckles and Tom Holmes pups and you'll know what "expensive" means.

i think Ace Frehley of KISS used Dimarzio Super Distortion(one of the early hi-output pickups in the 70's) on his Les Pauls.

yup yup yup! virtual pafs are good, and they come in a variety of covers, check the website.

it also depends on your budget. audiophile has 'em, same with the seymours. but if you're the adventurous type and would like to try out something new, check these out:

http://store.guitarfetish.com/humbuckers.html

particularly the Alnico Fat PAFs. boutique killers daw. but i wouldn't give in to the sales pitch.

GFS seem to be pretty good and cheap. i can't back it up, haven't tried them but check out the harmony-central reviews.

I haven't tried DiMarzios myself, except for the Breed...

If they are really much cheaper, I sure would like to know what the DiMarzio 1 is to 1 equivalents are for the Duncan '59, Antiquity, Seth Lover, Alnico Pro 2, and Pearly Gates models ...

i dont think may mirror yung dimarzio models sa seymour.  original din naman ang dimarzio :D   i'm lovin' the twangking, next would be the PAFs... although maganda daw talaga yung air classics and the nortons 8)

meron na ba nagbebenta ng Kent Armstrong pups sa pinas?

meron silang brand na pang export called "SKY" which is pretty much a Kent Armstrong but rebadged.. really good and really cheap..

they have plenty of PAF style pups..

chrome/nickel covered pickups:

PAF's are what the vintage les pauls had (if my history is correct)

so really if you wanted that sort of sound, it means you're after a classic les paul sound.. (vodka talking..)

ahh ok, thanks jack. so if they aren't nickel/chrome/gold covered, they're simply humbuckers lang?

not necessarily..  some people take them off (needs a soldering iron) some just don't have them, dimarzio and SD PAFs don't have covers IIRC

ayt bro! thanks man. i heard the GFS pickups sold in guitarfetish are ok ah. pero he was referring to the strat set. pero if the strat set is good, there's a big chance na pati yung humbucker sets nila are ok. they're cheap man, 60+ bucks for their top of the line set. (humbuckers)

PAF, Patent Applied For design ni Seth Lover nung 1957 :D which originally came with nickel covers. so yung mga current  pickup designs na dun humahalintulad, PAF-stlyle pickups sila, with or without covers

most people think that DMZ PAF pros and Breeds are PAFs when in fact they're not PAF-type pickups. they're pickups designed to simulate the PAF's characteristics on a superstrat basswood guitars. I'm not sure about their virtual series though, but i've heard they're great.

A do-it-all PAF-typel, i would guess are the SD 59s and PGs, and Gibson Burstbuckers and 57 classics.

Seths and Antiquities, as great as they are, might have problems with microphonic feedbacks on high gain applications because they're not wax potted. but they're probably the closest things to the real PAF.

i still say, go for a SD 59 set!

(if you want something more expensive, get the Gibson 57 classic/classic plus)
