a few years back i realized that the music industry is a business-pure and simple. they will sell what the people wants to hear. otherwise you are on your own--an alternative.

you shred. do the non-guitarist people around you appreciate it? so why would they spend money on marketing to promote you? they would rather spend on a talent that have a better return on investment. that's the reason why they promote novelty songs. produce albums of non singers yet popular. it is all about the money. that's the bad news.

the good news is with youtube and the like you can now be heard. record a video and share w/ your friends. if you're good you get popular. with a little luck you can even be discovered. a few years back you have to burn a demo cd and hope the radio stations will play it to be heard. consider yourselves lucky now. life for musicians has never been this good. learn to appreciate it :-)

consider yourself as the competition coz accessible na sa yo ang dati exclusive sa kanila :D

think of piracy as free advertisement. they get to hear your songs or see you play and you get nothing. but you have the opportunity to be popular. and with popularity you can demand better compensation when you play in gigs :-)

buti pa may mga batang tumutugtog at nag-aappreciate ng ganitong genre at this time. natabunan na ang music ng kabataan ngayon na puro emo, rap, pop, at kung anong gimicks ng music companies na puro image lang at walang pure music like Lady Gaga. kung may rock daw, para namang jonas brothers na ewan. we mostly dito sa philmusic lived and rocked thru this era: 80's classic rock, metal, glam, shred, arena rock, etc, up to the 90's grunge and alternative. Ituloy lang nya sana pa yan. Rare ang mga batang katulad niya who can rock in his own way. Personally, natutuwa ako kapag may ganitong mga bata. Napatayo ako sa kinauupuan ko sa salas when I saw him and said "Yes!". And eventually with that great talent and skill, they will do mature pa musically and improve. One time naging ganito din tayo nung mga bata pa tayo, hungry to rock. With kids like Keith, there is still hope for pinoy guitarist to pass the torch. Sayang lang at hindi na appreciated ito ng mainstream. Well, ganun naman ang nature ng rock for the past 50+ years and still is. Rock on. \m/

the industry needs to sell in order to live kaya nga may mga "pure Image only" sa maintream ngayon
