Don't just believe what other people say since they are essentially SELLING it.  Joint Venture is the local distributor of Behringer and it comes naturally for them to brag that Behringer is the best.  Don't compare apples (Shure SM58) with oranges (Behringer XM8500).

Take it from me...

I have a Behringer 1204fx, a set of XM1800 and a XM8500. Although I love Behringer (only because of their cost ok?), di kayang habulin ng mixer ang ngongo ng Behringer mics na to. Kung Soundcraft/Mackie pa mixer mo kaya talaga. It's not because crappy ang 1204fx. It's just that walang mid-sweep ang mixer na to. Hirap habulin ng tunog talaga. I tried using SM58 on the mixer and it sounded way better. XM8500 sounds better than XM1800 on the mixer pero medyo may pagka-ngongo pa din.

But if you want to keep your rig simple and easy to set up, SM58 ka na lang sir. :)

I'm selling my Behringer mixer, by the way. :) May bago na ako eh.

Malaki improvement ng sound quality bro pero depends on the acoustics of the venue baka kelangan mo pa din more headroom sa mixer mo para walang ngongo.

Pero going back to the context of our discussion much better kung SM58 ka na kung may budget naman. As for me, I'm an avid fan of behringer kasi yun lang ang kaya ng budget (decent na din naman). madami naman workaround to treat your sound -- attend ka ng audio seminars. :)

OT: ninong mikep, pa-seminar na tayo ulit! :)

Not sure what you're asking, can you rephrase? Did you mean powered speaker?

beside's if you really know what you're doing (mixing, eq, etc.), you can almost make any mic sound good.

kaso yun lang. alam lang nila is  yung pag hook up. mixing, wala. talo sila.
Regards,
IraJames

Check your powered speaker's power consumption (printed on the base where the power cord is attached to the unit). For better results, use a 1500va (at least) AVR for your system (with delay switch dapat). Use gauge 14 sa ext and at least 15A outlet (heavy duty).

Hope this helps.

:-) Also sir, yung extension ba sa raon ba okay to bilhin? maraming salamat!  :-)

I agree with you sir. :-)

Yep, that's what I meant by "kahit sa outlet mo na lang lagay lahat kaya na yun". :) Pero to be safe make sure your extension is heavy duty.

Nababago kasi tunog due to fluctuations ng kuryente. My bro-in-law suggested na i-try ko AVR so I got one from Kuryente (Electrical store in malls) a Hossoni servo-type 2000VA. Ang laki ng difference ng tunog as in Big Time!

Depends on the brand (and type?). I got mine for 4k+ but that was like 4 or 5 years ago. Servo type is a good one. Make sure it has delay switch.

Don't mention it. :) I learned a lot from PM; just returning the favor. And I'm still learning A LOT from the big guys here. I made our church sound better all credits due to Philmusic and the pros here who are never tired of sharing what they know. :)

Got Peavey PV-20 16-ch mixer with onboard so-so efx :), behringer 31-band eq, dbx comp/limiter/gate. I use the eq's onboard crossover and with a behringer Mic100 pre-amp as volume control. The mixer does not really have a mid-sweep pero nakukuha ko naman yung mid through the EQ and the compresso/limiter.

Before buying the Peavey mixer, I lined it up with Soundcraft MFX, EFX, and Samson. Samson lost the fight big time due to very low headroom. Both MFX and EFX won, well, they're Soundcraft after all. :)

I chose Peavey for the following reasons:

1. More affordable (already 16 channels) at 26k.
2. Has pwede-na headroom.
3. Way better than Behringer. :)

I tested the mixers using SM58 at audiophile in Robinsons Pioneer. Very obvious ang difference ng headrooms ng mixers using that mic. No wonder it’s every live performer’s favourite. Soundcraft ruled the entire test. Hehe!

Without the compressor and EQ, ngo-ngo talaga ang mga mics nay un. So I tried our old PG-48 and it worked kinda better. Kaya ginamit ko compressor and EQ to treat the sound. I’m no pro kaya it took me 3 weekends to finally tame the sound. Right now satisfied ako sa tunog.

Maganda din sa PV-20 is yung USB port nya for direct recording to my Audacity. Pwede na pang-live recording and music playing.

thanks for the share, sir. i've no experience with other brands but allow me to share our setup: 6 Shure SM58's hooked on Soundcraft EFX 12 to Crown Xs900 power amp out to Beta 3 U15's (2 per side), very clean ng sound. GASsing  for a pair of subs and a DRPA+ for improvement. age of our SM58's range from 13 to 20 years na, all still sounding good as new.
