So? What are you trying to say? If you're stuck up with the looks of a guitar more than the musi made by it, then you're listening to music for the wrong reasons.


+1.

As a matter of fact the JEM is a very versatile instrument. There are several tones in there you can use for just about anything--from a compressed humbucker lead sound to Fender-ish "in-betweens".

In terms of looks, the 7VWH (or is he using a 555WH?) is middle-of-the-road as well, neither historical/vintage nor metal. A bit frilly given the pearloid pickguard and the inlay work, but hardly extreme.

Indeed, if you go beyond looks & associations, even Barbie Almalbis can sling it.

Wag lang siguro si Aiza Seguerra.  :lol:

Mike Elgar shreds in Rivermaya, he even uses a 7 string Peavey...

To me oks lang naman.

Not that I want you to agree Kamalayan...but I understand what you mean.  3 years ago, yun guitarist naman namin naka JS...blues/rock kami.   :lol:

It was his only guitar, and he can't do anything about it.  :lol:   :lol:   :lol:

Anyways, I'm more concerned with his skill and style...


eh yung gitarista naman ng dicta license ? naka strat ? ehehehe pinipilit pabigatin yung tunog ng strat niya na naka single coils yata, pinipilit mag tunog metal. parang sobrang processed tuloy nung tunog.


Well, in this particular case the DL guy is the one suffering from the looks syndrome. You just have to ask, "Can't you hear that the strat is just not working for your music despite its nice looks?" But then again, I don't really know the guitar player so there's a big possibility that he does intend to sound that way.

Di kaya recording methods? Miking vs. Direct signal? I'm no recording guru but I do know that these guys mostly record using digital medium (except maybe slapshock, who recorded their more recent albums at Tracks which uses tape) so that could be a big factor.

Or they're more into using stompbox/rack distortions than playing with their amp's gain response. Tapos pag payat ang tunog, lagyan ng compression + chorus + delay + reverb. Bad fundamental tone with a very rich dressing in effects.

ganun ba? i happen to like very much the sound of urbandub.hilig ako sa delay eh. stonefree naman...i dont like how they sound sa ibang songs nila.ang pangit sobra.pero i like them all the same

I'm no recording guru din ehehe pero ewan ko kung anong kanta at saang album ng slapshock yung mga nakikita ko sa myx, pag naririnig ko yung mga gitara parang mga bubuyog at langaw na nag aaway eh... ehehehehe di kaya yung TV ko ang may kasalanan ? hekehekhekehk

i used to be in a band that played post punk and new wave stuffs (the alarm, white china, the jam, big country, cactus world news)  and my guitar was an ibanez usa custom (grafix, shark tooth inlay).

siguro ang tanong sa issue na to ay hindi "why is he (guitarist of rivermaya) using that kind of guitar for that kind of music?" kundi isang simpleng "why not?".

actually yung lyrics ginawa ng ad agency ata tapos pina arrange sa different bands..napili yung arrangement ng kiko machine so ayun silang tumugtog. :) info lang po..i enjoy watching them kasi nakakatawa sila mg perform hehe..yun lang. pero malupit yung gitarista nun. di lang masyado ngsosolo sa songs nila. :D

Napanood mo rin pala yung MTV Homecoming.
Kahit ako nabigla eh. But then I've heard Ibbys are tonally versatile - but aesthetically, that's a different story. Ewan ko lang sa Jem - may coil splitting ba ito? :?:

I've even seen Randy Santiago's guitarist using an RG. Mukhang hindi bagay, pero he was able to get the strat sound that would be more commonly used sa mga ganung kanta.
