Me: "pogi?"

GF: "yang binili mo. Si pogi."

Me: "no, it should be a girl's name"

GF: "eh pogi gusto ko e kase ampogi ng gitara mo"

Cant argue with her.

imagine having to repeat that explanation 5x each time you get asked ... and since i have like 7 basses, that's basically 35x you have to explain to people which bass is which lol

 



on to my stuff. i like watching anime, and i have a tendency, or shall i say trend, that i name my guitars after female characters who share common traits, mostly color.

1. Nina - after the protagonist of UltraManiac...

- red, copy strat handed down from my father. spent the first part of it's life stock with me, but back in 2005 i turned it into a ghetto-fab frankenstrat. she sounds crappy, like the character it was named for. however, i had my first gig with it, wrote and recorded lots of songs with it...currently dead and awaiting parts for resurrection


2. Maia - after the antagonist of UltraManiac...

- black epi les paul special model...first guitar i bought with my own money. i bought it primarily to use at a christmas party gig because i thought Nina sounded like crap. with a gibson zebra bridge pup, it sounded more rock n roll...never recorded with it, hadn't gigged as much as my strat



3. Yuri - after one of the female leads of Angel Beats!

- midnight blue epi pro II super strat...hands down the best sounding guitar i own. bought it for christmas last year because i got fed up with the lp and felt gravitating back towards strats. a real super strat with weird slanted obl pups and an equally weird trem. currently my main gig guitar.

Pete - Ibanez Gio GAXB150, My first bass. That time I was a fan of Pete Wentz. lol (sold)

Cat - my 3rd acoustic guitar, I brought it at raon, it was pretty descent, "Cat" was the text on the pickguard so yeah.

Taira - My 2nd Bass Guitar, I named it after my favorite bassist from Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad.

Lasty - My 2nd electric guitar, its an SX Thinline Telecaster. I haven't named it before the gig, I named it after the first bar I played it with. Last Home.

I didn't name my first 3 guitars, di pa kasi ako seryoso mag banda nun

-Song by the Ventures I played in some guitar competition where I won a new electric guitar..a Squier Strat..may nakasulat sa likod using pentel pen yung name niya na kupas na kupas na..

2.Fender Squier Strat: "Red"
- Contest grand prize, Dahil sa Body Color

3.Gibson LP Special Faded:  "K"
-Named after the guy who gave me this guitar. A industrial rock-IT american expat when he left he gave me his stuff...may chinese elect/acoustic din..named her "Mel" named after sa syota niya na friend ko din..hahaha though di ako gaano masaya sa sound niya.. (Even now, I never bonded with this acoustic, Im just keeping it so I have something to play with around the house without plugging...)

4. Squier '51=  " Chairman"
-dahil sa sticker ni Mao Ze dong  ..love hate relationship..kasi everytime ko siya nakikita naalala ko yung ungas na store clerk na tinaga ako sa presyo..highway robbery I culdve gotten a Ash Bodied COrt with Mighty Mite and Wilkinsons for the same price..

-got this a few days before my daughter was born,through Philmusic (it was my first deal with someone over the net), named it after Juan Francisco, the name we thought of if the baby turned out a boy.. Will sell this off immediately when I get home..

6.Fender Jaguar HH Special: "Adam"
- this baby is equiped with a bigsby on a vibramate mount...currently the beater guitar I have now. named him Adam, first offset guitar after a very very long offset fanboy stage.---Selling, just waiting for someone to take it off my hands..but for the mean time its gonna be my daily use guitar...


Ive got another Jaguar HH special and an Epiphone Tom Delonge probably headed to the selling block...thinking of getting a tele, and extremely gassing for a Fender Active Jazz bass, also want to get this souped up epiphone LP..but lack of storage space at home is preventing me from pulling the trigger.. SOLD THIS! Sad to let the very Mint Jag go..but this opened the floodgates for me to appreciate and try out nicer stuff...

Now selling the Mexican strat I just got and a Chinese OEM shredder...

1. Slammer by Hamer Strat - "Yin Yang"
- My first electric guitar. My mother actually coined the name Yin Yang because it has a black finish with a pearloid pickguard. Stolen by robbers who broke into our apartment.

2. Jackson JS20 - "Maria"
- named after an old flame from college

3. Fernando Acoustic Electric - "Nando"
 - a gift from an old girlfriend, and she named it.

4. RJ 7 String - "Kurenai"
- Japanese word for Crimson, as its finish is in Crimson Red Transparent

5. Strat Copy - "Frisco"
- got it for a steal from PCParkJapan, named after the guitar's brand.

6. Ibanez RG420 - "Penny/Goldie"
- named after its color finish, New Penny. Gave the guitar to a friend and he named it Goldie.

7. Ibanez RG2550Z - "Animo Galaxia"
- initially named Galaxia after its color finish, Galaxy White. I then installed a Mirror Green Pickguard, renaming it Animo Galaxia as a homage to my Alma Mater, DLSU.

8. Dean Michael Amott Tyrant X Splatter - "Tyranto"
- named after its model name.

9. Fender '93 Strat Plus Deluxe - "Ashley"
- named after its finish and body, Natural Ash

10. Ibanez PGM301 - "Pauline"
- no brainer :p
