Won't matter if the volume is low if there's a standing wave at the mix position. You can easily tell that just by moving a little bit and see if the bass changes. Near fields were meant to be listened at a volume high enough that it defeats some sonic anomalies in your room, usually negating reflections. Standing waves, however, are another matter entirely as they act like comb filters.

ayun oh... SN10 pwede na  8-)

coming down to the Phillippines and just thinking of bringing another set of studio monitors from UK... SN10's much better versions of the Yamaha NS10's smoother top end and more bass end... also, i have a smaller set to bring... what do you think?  June 2012

eto rin yung pinaka malaking tanong ko eh, anong basehan natin para masabi nating "uncolored/flat response" ang isang studio monitor speaker? well marami satin ang nag sasabing  (example) yung "brand A" eh masyadong ma-bass.. yung "brand B" eh masyadong matalas? and etc... pano natin malalaman kung ganon nga? eh malay natin kung yun talaga yung "uncolored" na tunog? well hehehe alam nyo na to, so yung ibang studio at engrs eh may multiple sets of speakers nalang haha!

every monitor has some form of audible coloration. you just have to get used to it.

Kaya sa ngayon sir Kit low volume lang muna ako magmix. Yung sound treatment na ginawa ko sa room hindi pa talaga masasabing sound treatment eh.
mag mix ka muna sa living room nyo hehehe...

FREQUENCY RESPONSE DOES NOT TELL THE WHOLE STORY.

I read in a pro-recording article way back... If all monitors claim FLAT RESPONSE, then WHY DO THEY SOUND DIFFERENT FROM EACH OTHER?

For me, the room for monitoring is one big factor in mixing perception, even with near-fields.

Hi all... IM BRINGING A NEW SET OF MONITORS FOR XELLY... IF YOU LIKE...  :-D  well...hope we can have a venue to do the measurements and maybe do a listening test... its good to really hear the thing and considering its brand new we might need to do  a whole day or half day to drive the speakers and hear them first hand...

Any suggestions welcome... lastime we had them at TRACKS with the generosity of our very own Maestro SIR MIKE PEDERO... haligi ng Audio Engineers sa pinas... who knows he might be willing to take this on again... after all its once a year only...

Brand new Sewin 6A... Active monitors just like the Event TR6... if you have heard them.... I know Jay Durias using the event 20/20.

Suggestions... suggestions... any studio who would like to sponsor this small event welcome...

I guess no two brands of "flat" speakers sound the same. I have small Behris (MS16), A huge Samson, I have worked with KRKs, and recorded for 2 years in a studio that uses NS10s. They're all flat, and by that I mean, near to no-bias. But since they differ in size and many other factors, they are somehow "colored" by how they are made. Besides, your room will also be a huge factor. I once moved my DAW to the corner of the same room, and it sounded awful. Hence, I think the most important factor would be your preferences. Like what sir Kit said, "minsan, sanayan lang yan" goodluck!
