Fascinating. Why?

Price (kuripot ako). Just to be more practical. Im not a rich hobbyist/musician.  :-D
instead, will go on a common gear/instrument na "sulit" that will suit my needs.
opinions may vary but for me just play the gear/s what makes us happy.
kanya kanyang trip lang. hehe.

Most signature models and "limited" reissues of any kind are over-rated and over hyped.

Hindi yata overrated ang ibig mong sabihin. In most cases, boutique gear live up to the hype (at least according to reviews and demos). Nagkataon lang na merong cheaper options that can at least approximate--and at times even capture--the sound and feel of more expensive gear. :-)

I'm an offset fan but the Jazzmaster/Jaguar is by no means perfect. I'd play one. I want one and I'm saving for one but it's odd seeing so many people hype up an unpopular instrument that nobody really wanted but could afford back in the 80s.
Offset guitars for life.

Wait... so you mean it's overrated simply because you can't afford one?

 :)

Just because it's "overpriced" doesn't mean it's over rated. Some overpriced gear actually live up to their price.  :-)

Can you give example of those cheaper options like an amp? multi-fx?

anyway sa akin Roland Jazz Chorus... ( I tried it before but maybe not for me )

Well, I'm using a cheap beat-up Fernandes Tele and an even cheaper Fernando Strat (it's upgraded with slightly better parts though) through a beat-up Zoom G7 that I got for less than 10k. Let's just say that I've never been happier with my sound--and that's coming from someone who played through and heard more expensive set-ups (not all mine, of course).

And I'm using a 40-watt Stagg amp at home. The drive channel sucks but I never use amp distortion anyway. I just need a decent clean channel for my multi.

my bad. some but not all boutique. still ill go for that cheaper options na "SULIT" (mass produced pedals which way cheaper than a boutique pedal) like what I said kanya kanyang trip lang yan.

even if I can afford one, still will not get one. hehe
I simply say its overrated because I dont like the sound/s (maybe im still a minor when it comes to a boutique)
If I don't like something it's a matter of my taste.

Everyone has a different ear and thus what is great for one person, is mediocre for the next.
for example, Lets just say 'it didnt work for me but works for everyone else'

How can you give an assessment on something that you haven't tried yet?

I honestly feel that pedals that has a famous guitarists name on it is overrated. Like the classic MXR Phase 90 VS the EVH Phase 90. I've had both and I didn't see any dramatic difference. Buddy Guy Wah VS the Classic Cry Baby so on and so forth. I can assess. I've had them. Lol

Mismo Bro. May made in China nga ako na Squier Strat. Pinabura ko yung decal, di nila mahulaan kung anong brand kasi maganda tumunog. Minsan placebo lang kung saan gawa ang gitara.

May Fender ako, pinabura ko yung decal at pinalagyan ng Fernando para pag narinig nilang tumunog, iisipin nila tone is in the fingers.

Pero totoo yan, pag inalis yung decal or pinalitan ng mas mamahaling brand, naaapektuhan ang pandinig ng mga "marunong"--unless sobrang bano nung tumutugtog.
