Kahapon ko lang napanood yung episode 2, 1st time ko narinig si Mangini & Minnemann, and same as the band their my top two...

On 9:29 medyo may "fail" na linyang nabanggit si Jordan Rudess for me regarding Thomas Lang... "He interpreted the song's more, as suppose to playing them exactly to the record. And It's tricky you know, as a musician I could understand their desire to add their own flavor to it. But the reality is, we've played this songs a hundred times & the fans have heard it, we needed to feel, you know, just a certain way..."

I'm saying this not because I want Thomas to win, but if they really wanted the same "feeling" they had before... Sad to say no drummer is the same, and from that statement alone, entertaining & exciting as it is already, I think this search is a waste of time... In Mangini's words "I'm here not to replace Portnoy" because no one can play like Portnoy, just as no one can play like the other 7 candidates... IMHO

i think what Jordan Rudess meant was, he's open to other drummers adding their own interpretation to the DT songs, pero sumobra si Thomas Lang for his taste. and, based sa mga videos, he may be THE most outspoken DT member now that Portnoy is gone so may factor na rin dun na na-sway nya yung judgement ng bandmates niya.

Anyway, all good naman. can't wait for the new album!

Well I guess Mike Mangini has it all kaya sya pinili pero lest just hope he will grow as a DT para maabutan nia ang stamina ni Portnoy... nakakapagod kasi mga kanta nila, any you can see all the 7 Contenders sweat their bloods of in just 3 songs i think... Nothing compared to Mike who is almost not sweating at all and been doing it for 25 years

problema kasi kay thomas lang para syang cyborg..very robotic and feel nya tapos yung nga
sumubra nga ata yung pagre-interpret ng mga drum parts nawala na yung basic feel nila sa mga kanta nila. tsaka masyadong siryoso di kamukha ni mangini at marco hehe parang mga kenkoy pa rin sa drums hehe.

and that's probably the reason why he got bored and eventually burned out.
he played his drum parts with ease he can actually play them while sleeping i guess LoL!
also those 7 guys have no problem when it comes to stamina they can play all the
DT albums in a one whole day once they get settled in.

O baka di lang talaga pawisin si Portnoy.

Ang gusto ko naman kay Lang is walang masyadong exaggerated moves. He's a powerful drummer pero di exaj. Economy of motion ika nga.

Mike Mangini was the top choice really...the audition was probably just affirmation...remember the mix-up between DT's Octavarium and James Labrie's solo record?, A lot of people thought James' record was the new DT album because it was labelled as DT's Octavarium by some download site...Mangini laid the drum tracks for that record...

Check out James Labrie's Elements of Persuasion album. It will give you a vague idea of how DT with Mangini would sound...

but when i saw the first clip whoa! mike mangini really dig the music!

2. attitude
