I guarantee that JB does not know how to fix tube amps properly.  Wala silang masyadong experience doon at walang certification ang mga technician nila from Mesa Boogie.

Sana naging plan nila is to have certain regular employees to be sent to Mesa Boogie factories para ma-train sila. Mahirap kasi baka di nila maayos at sirain pa nila yung iyong priced jewel.

Or papalitan mo ng ibang unit if covered pa ng 1 year local warranty sa JB. Paglagpas ng 1 year, covered pa ng 4 years warranty ng Mesa. Ikaw nga lang magpapa-ship.

That's about $3,000-$5000 for the airfare and RFB alone.

Kung merong Mark V sa Hong Kong, there's another option.

But still, how heavy is the Mark V? Around 30kg excluding the packaging? That's already above the typical 25kg weight limit for baggage. It's going to be tough getting through customs with it, too. If they find out that the amp is new and worth more than $300 (which is not that difficult to figure out), well, I don't know.

Anyway, I do see the point. I'm always up for some travel.

All airlines going in and out of USA from Manila have the following specs for checked-in baggage:

• 50 lbs per baggage, and everyone is entitled up to 2 bags with a maximum linear length of 62 inches (width+length+height).
• Carry-on baggage must fit on the overhead compartment or under the seat and with maximum linear length of 45 inches

However, DELTA Airlines, which is the friendliest airline for musicians, have a different clause for music instruments

• 50 lbs per baggage, and everyone is entitled up to 2 bags with a maximum linear length of 62 inches (width+length+height).
• If a checked-in item is a music instrument, it can be up to 100 lbs and with max linear length of 115 inches. So basically you can bring 2 Mark Vs or a Mark V and a 100-pound cab. Remember 2 bags are allowed
• Carry-on Items must easily fit in the overhead bin or other approved storage location in the cabin, based on available space at the time of boarding (which allowed me to carry a guitar on OHSC which is over 4 feet long, buti nalang may lalagyan sila ng coats, so depende talaga sa flight attendants and Delta ground crew).
• I was not taxed when I carried my guitar in OHSC. This is probably a case to case basis. 2nd hand items (or self-declared as 2nd hand) are rarely taxed as well.

Now that's beyond my point. My point is clear naman siguro.  100+% mark-up is awesome!

Apparently some guy from JB Music (not going to name him) just texted me about their upcoming sale this March 1 up to some undisclosed date yet and I was able to inquire on their Boogies on hand specifically the Mark V head and combo plus some of their cabs (apparently they only have the 2x12 Transatlantic and the 4x12 Rectifier ones at the moment and both are in severely limited supply or so was I told).

Problem is that they're still way overpriced after discounts and the guy pretty much admitted that their technicians cannot handle any Mesa Boogie repairs yet should any problem may arise.
