Why cant we see Pinoy artist play with these "so called Pinoy Pride" brands? do you think they ought to just stop production and save the environment by halting the need for cutting trees to make their stuff? Why havent they progressed into global brands? Why is there technology research and development?stagnant? why dont they hire young and fresh pinoy luthiers to help rework their guitar design and manufacturing process into better sounding..quality instruments...for the same price..would buy some cardboard  sounding lumanog or some cheapo massproduced CNC'ed china guitar?

Hmmmm..Id rather choose the latter...more bang for your buck...

Your thoughts?

Apples and oranges.

It's not impossible for Lumanog to produce better-quality guitars, but that's not their market.

are they wasting wood? No.

By trying to look unique, everyone ends up looking the same.
-goes with the "sound" too

Have you played one at all?

I have played a few acoustic Lumanog guitars back then, when I was younger, and they sound "good enough" even for impromptu performances.   There are a few na tunog-lata, pero chambahan rin mkakuha ng tunay na maganda ang tunog off the bat.  Since they're cheap, they're good enough for those who can only afford cheap guitars.  Also, the disadvantages of Cheap Lumanog guitars is that they tend to sound bad after a while, because they're not using better wood.

So, no, hindi sayang ang kahoy sa Lumanog.

Here's a sample of a song I arranged with a "cheap" acoustic Lumanog a few years back:

I agree with Mr. Matanglawin.

Tsaka yung Lumanog (and other instrument makers) caters to non musicians. :))

By the way, sa gitarang Lumanog (na ubod ng tigas) ako natuto maggitara.

Kung first timer or novice in playing guitar, okay naman ang lumanog.. My first acoustic guitar was Lumanog, sa isang matinong music shop ko pa sya nabili (nakalimutan ko na ang name), and I can say na maganda yung quality nya compared sa mga Lumanog ngayon.

Pati pa ba 'Lumanog may copy? LOL

This.

I still own one,and this will be the one I bring out when drunks are involved lol! Actually,I like the sound. It's not that bad,and I wrote a few songs on it. I guess guys get disappointed when they don't take their time in the stores or feel pressured when the salesguy/'bantay' urges them on to a purchase. But you're bound to find something worth your while if you just open your horizons.

i guess lumanog guitar doesnt just waste wood..
well professional musicians wont use it for acoustic gig but they would probably use it when they will be drinking or even in practicing so that their main guitar wont be that battered when it comes to the live performances..
my former bandmate a close friend of mine have this lumanog guitar nothing fancy but it sounds okay i cant compare it to a taylor acoustic but it sounds okay.. for the price maybe we can say you get what you paid for.

I like to share something.. Naka-usap ko few years back yung anak ng original lumanog before.. Family issue ang problem..

According to him, lahat ng nasa V. Mapa ay fake, isa lang yung original dun.. I reached out kasi medyo may pagka-patriotic ko.. I support Filipino products and I believe na KAYA ng Lumanog lumaban kahit sa imported brands.. Kelangan lang ng malupit na market research..

I offered him a web site.. I told him I can build a website for Lumanog and also help them on their market research.. Kelangan nilang magproduce ng malupit ng gitara na tipong ipro-promote siya ng mga local artists but, he's arrogant.  He offered me to work for him in a different industry and forget about Lumanog guitars kasi away pamilya daw yun..

Ayun..

Your thoughts?
